Cheap curb reins?

Hey, y’all. I just bought a new bridle and although it comes with laced reins, I need a set of curb reins (my horse takes a pelham). I’m a rider on a budget, so shelling out $47 for a set of thin, unlaced reins makes me cringe. Anyone know where to get good, cheap curb reins? Thanks!

I have a set of “flat reins” on my pelham bridle. I couldn’t find anything cheap in “curb reins,” but if you google plain jane flat reins, you might find a good buy! amazon prime is the way to go. Collegiate or kincade make good, decent reins in havana and plain brown. I bought the collegiate to match my bridle because it is collegiate.

double reins are SO MUCH BETTER than pelham roundings. make sure you buy the 5/8 and not the 1 inch because they are easier to hold

I got a pair of flat Gatsby reins in a pinch, and for the price, they actually surprisingly nice. I’d planned on replacing them, but haven’t bothered, because they’ve been holding up way better than I expected.

You could get the SmartPak Harwich flat reins for about $42, which I think are probably a better buy than a lot of other options in that price range. Or, if you’re willing to spring a bit for better quality, there’s a couple pairs of Edgewood plain reins on eBay right now for $60.

Alternatively, if you’re okay with something a little more workman-like in appearance, you could get some flat reins from Bartville. I can look up pricing on those when I get home, but they’re good quality, Amish-made reins at a reasonable price. They look like this: http://www.bitofbritain.com/Nunn-FIner-Pelham-Rein-p/5104.htm (these are the same thing, but with a markup).

ETA - The Bartville reins are a bit more than I had thought; they are $52.

Here’s a few options from saddleseat tack shops:

You can get plain reins in various widths on clearance at Smith Worthington:

National Bridle Shop. They make their own reins, both laced and plain curb, and they are good quality and very reasonably priced.
