Cheap/Free Classifieds Site for Tack/etc??

I have quite a lot of equine related items I need to sell – saddles, bridles, horse boots, show coats, breeches, tall boots, my sister’s Breyer model horse collection, etc, etc.
I am not having much luck on eBay or Craigslist, and even Facebook groups, while they seemed to generate a bit of interest, have not thus far allowed me to actually unload anything.
I am strongly considering tacktrader.com for some of the larger items (saddles mainly), but IMO $10 for EACH 90-day ad w/ ONE photo is quite steep; and there’s no possible way I could ever afford to list everything I have to sell on TackTrader, I’d be out hundreds of dollars…and a large part of why I’m selling so much stuff in the first place is that I’m broke!

so, I am inquiring of you knowledgeable minds here on COTH – do y’all know of any cheap, or even free tack/equestrian classifieds sites out there where I could post photo ads and have them be seen by a large audience? and hopefully get rid of some of this stuff?
I am in SW FL if that matters at all (local listing sites, or whatever).

thanks so much to you all in advance.

I am very interested to read responses to your query, as I am in a similar predicament.

Tacktrader hosts free ads – without photos – but you can always include a line “photos upon request.”

Look into Facebook. A lot of areas have pages for buy/sell/trade that are specific to horses. I’ve sold a bunch of stuff on my local one.

How I sold the majority of stuff on Facebook (English Tack Trader) involved a little more legwork - I would scroll through the last 24 hours of posts each evening and look for people posting in search of items that I had. Then respond directly to their post.

Just posting your stuff on there isn’t always enough because it gets pushed down the page very quickly and they limit how often you can bump to the top. Making a lot of sales usually requires being a bit proactive.

If I remember correctly, equinenow.com allows you to create free ads.

I saw that on TrackTrader – I do intend to post some free/photoless ads there. I got a bit discouraged though when I tried to post an ad there yesterday…there is a limit of 500 words in the text of the ad (paid photo ads have a 1000 word limit). and I know that I do tend to be an overly wordy person, but I ran out of space and could not rewrite it to be short enough! Granted, I probably would not have that problem w/ most of the other stuff I want to sell – that saddle I was trying to post is just a rather unique specimen, and there’s quite a lot to say about it (and it is probably the one thing I most sad about having to sell. I LOVE that saddle and I’m almost 100% sure I’ll never in my life find anything quite like it again. but I no longer own the horse it fits and I doubt I will have much use for it any time in the foreseeable future).

@HuntinQuarters & @furlong47 – I will check out that English Tack Trader group. I had mainly just been posting in local groups; and I did try to check & keep an eye out for people “ISO,” but all the ISO posts I saw seemed to be people wanting to trade – and I don’t need another saddle to sell. =P
I will perhaps try equinenow as well, but IME that site is not really one of the first places people tend to look in search of tack/apparel/etc, as it’s more focused on horses for sale. I may be mistaken.

This message board is free and fairly active, and has a pretty big assortment of stuff. I’ve bought and sold a few things on it. http://myhorseforum.com/forums/horse-classifieds.23/

This is a timely thread for me as I’m staring at the 3 ortho-flex saddles I have been trying to sell for a friend. Not only are they not popular, but finding the right place to list them to even get calls seems difficult.

ETT has an enormous user base and usually performs much better than smaller local groups. The only downside is needing to ship, obviously, but I just figured flat rate shipping for everything except saddles into the prices based on which box they would fit in. The priority mail flat rate boxes are free to pick up at the post office.
