I ride a lot more young horses than I used to while not getting any younger myself. I thought my half chaps were doing well enough but I just had to break in new tall boots and the difference in lower leg security is obvious. I’d prefer to keep the boots nice to show in, so I would like to replace my half chaps.
Who makes half chaps with great security, strong zippers, and an under $200 price tag? Would be lovely if they could last more than a season of riding 5 a day.
Are you sure it’s not because your boots are stiffer? A stiffer boot, or boot period can make a stable lower leg. In the dressage world you can get super super stiff boots for that purpose.
I haven’t bought new ones for a while, so I don’t know the current price. But I’ve had good luck with the Ariat suede half chaps holding up well for a long time.
