Cheaper alternative for Pro Plan

Simple said that the causation between dog foods that use legume based ingredients and heart disease due to lack of taurine has been disproved. Raconteur asked for her sources. Personally, I think the whole “grain free” thing is just a marketing ploy to fool the public into believing those foods are healthier or contain more meat. Just like non GMO, gluten free, and organic are mostly marketing ploys.

I don’t disagree. But to cite Purina as being top of the line or somehow more trustworthy is rather rich, as well.

Do your research, people. Choose what works for you.

Honestly I used to feed Victor, and switched to ProPlan to keep things simple in the household, as that’s what my SO feeds his three. It’s an “ok” food, but I supplement Omegas and other things that are lacking.

By who? I work in the animal health industry. It hasn’t

Sigh. Yeah, it has. @endlessclimb posted a couple links. None of which is a surprise, considering how weak the initial “research” was.

Not one vet recommends grain free or “fad” diets dogs foods. And most do not recommend raw diets because there are key nutrients that are missing when raw diets are fed as well as chance of salmonella contamination.

And yes, vets do still link increased heart disease risk with grain free diets.
