Edited to let everyone know that the sale was yesterday, 4/12.
What is a Seresto collar - looked it up and guess it is a flea collar for $70.00 -
Why and what makes the so super?
Have been thinking about using these, as topicals seem to be failing. Anyone have experience with them?

Its a flea and tick collar that last 8 months if your dog doesn’t swim and you aren’t bathing them super frequently. If so then it lasts about 8 months. They are available for both cats and dogs and are working quite well down here in Florida for both fleas and ticks. Something that other topical aren’t doing.
Its $70/8 months = about 9 bucks a month.
I just paid $39.99 thru Fosters & Smith - they run decent sales on them (& other flea/tick products) pretty regularly.
Huh. It would be a lot easier for me to manage this for the dog and cats. Remembering the Frontline monthly is kind of a chore. And it’s greasy.
Any negatives to the collar?
I have been hearing about them, so this sale prompted me to give it a try. My vet is recommending them, too.
OH good to know. I have been meaning to get these for my two dogs.
I know my vet uses them on her dogs.

The only negative that I’ve heard about is the reduced use time if your dog swims or if you are bathing your dog regularly for a skin condition. It just reduced the lifespan of the collar. Like anything topical or anything applied to the skin irritation can develop but I know several people who use these and they are recommended by our dermatology department so I’d classify that as a rare or unusual side effect.
I am not finding this sale… can you please list the site?
I am seeing $49 for Cat Seresto, which qualifies for free shipping. My vet has it at $70 with a $15 rebate.
Thanks!
The sale was yesterday, 4/12. Maybeeeee they would honor it if you call in?
Thanks anyway, LadyBug! Glad at least for being made aware that there are cheaper options than from my vet…
Grrr I missed it. I need two new collars. Anyone know who has the best price?
$45 seemed to be the best I could find, so I ordered at chewy.com. That price is available at several places, though, including Amazon.
Just a PSA on these collars - my family uses them on dogs and cats (some hunting dogs and dogs that are frequently in heavy brush) and give them rave reviews, however over the weekend we were talking about them being safe for crated dogs. My SIL told me to always make sure you attach the reflector on the inside of the connection and not on the tail end of the collar because if the reflector is on the tail end the collar cannot loosen if the animal were to get stuck on something and would potentially strangle the animal. Her cat became hung up in the Christmas tree on the collar with the reflector that way and her boyfriend found him gasping.
Otherwise no complaints of fleas or ticks with them!
Thanks for the heads up, Riley!
Love the seresto collars! I recommend them for my flea allergy dogs along with their monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Seresto collar does work even if the dog and collar gets wet but won’t last as long as Justmyluck indicated.
The ONLY thing I’ve found that work against our severe tick infestation. Not as long-lasting for fleas imho, though. But still lasts long enough to be cost-effective (something like 4 months, so about the same as bravecto, but the tick protection was worth it)

My biggest complaint is these suckers are a PITA to get on and off. I can’t imagine it coming loose if caught on something, unless the collar broke outright. I try to take them off for swimming, grooming, to give the Pap’s neck a break and it is really difficult to jimmy and jiggle the collar through the keeper.
Reviving this thread to ask how the Seresto collars are working for everyone? My dogs have been wearing them since April, so only about 4 months, but I found fleas on one of my dogs last night!! The collars are supposed to last 8 months, but clearly that’s not the case. Off to do some damage control…
