I did it a couple of years ago. It was so much fun! I would love to do it again–maybe next year!
ETA: Here is a picture.
I would love to do it but just had lots of vet bills so maybe next year.
The price caused heart palpitations when I read it.
Although considering you’re paying for a 3 day affair; I suppose it’s not a bad deal after the sticker shock.
It’s really not bad considering 3 clinics and a day of hunting. Plus a cookout, kennel tour, and probably some other stuff that I’m not remembering.
It’s over $200 to cap one day with Cheshire. So it really is a lot of bang for your buck.

At first look see I hear ya. But as Mel pointed out there is a fair amount of “value” being offered. A day lift ticket at Vail is up to $160!!!
Yup, the hunt used to meet here from time to time. We haven’t been able to afford/justify the cost of membership since the finical crash, the horse market crash. So only capping is/was an option. The last time the hunt met here a few years agoI figured I could take a couple hours off my MANY day to day horse work and go out with them.
Got dressed, tacked up rode over to where everyone was parked. The hunt secretary came over to me looking for a check. I said you have got to be kidding me. Look where everyone is parked. I turned around and left. That was the last time they met here. I have’t been out with them since.
When I asked the fine folks at Elkridge, Greenspring and several of the hunts around Middleburg Va. all of which have known me for years, how much to cap. They laughed and said we don’t charge “horse” people like you, lol. Obviously I am not even a land owner around those parts. Though my family was quite a large land owner many moons ago in Monkton. I have my grandfathers hunt coat buttons when it was still just the Elkridge Hunt, before they joined with the Harford Hunt and became the Elkridge-Harford Hunt.
