For any COTHer who has ever loved, or been owned by, a “ginger.” I have never had the experience of owning one, but I have known and loved a good many: Ginger, Happy, Lollipop, Robin, Peggy (dearest of all), Harriet, Sweet Genius, Brownie, Lady, and Ginger.

I put my gelding down in 2013. A few years later I decided to take lessons and guess what. I bought my lesson horse. She was everything I didn’t want. A mare. A chestnut. An OTTB. A cribber. She is everything in the article. And she is smart, athletic, easy to train, and pretty. I love her to bits. Says the person who claimed she would never own a mare.
