Chewy and FedEx

I’ve had no FedEx issues with Chewy – comes lightening fast. Maybe it depends on how near you are to a Chewy distribution center.

How I hate FedEx, let me count the ways. We had a great FedEx driver at the beginning of the year, we have a different one now. My Chewy order usually comes on time, but gets dumped at the side of the driveway, 50’ from the porch. When I say dumped, I mean busted up boxes. Yesterday my order came from Sport Dog, dumped in the driveway, as usual by FedEx. All the boxes were busted open, and the bags are no longer airtight. I am hoping their customer service is as good as Chewy’s.

I had so much trouble getting shipments pre-covid and just as covid started that I quit using Chewy. Not only were their deliveries unreliable, their previously good customer service took a hike. I used Amazon, which had comparable prices on many things, and since we are close to Petsmart and other pet stores, purchased some items locally when we could. I started using Chewy again about a month ago when Amazon quit doing their prompt deliveries and raised prices on many petfood items. So far, they have been like their former reliable self, and I hope it continues.

Hum. Ours is always delivered by UPS.

Fedex is awful, as others have pointed out. They stuck a small Chewy order in my mailbox (um…illegal) so I called to complain to Chewy because, as others have pointed out, Fedex has no fucks left to give. I made it clear my beef was not with Chewy, but Fedex and I would reconsider ordering from them if I could get the same thing from Amazon. She was like “Oh, nos…don’t say the A word.”.

I’ve been waiting for a Chewy order for three weeks. Won’t order again. Granted, I have not contacted them yet to see what the issue is as I’ve been super busy, but from the get go it’s been a run around.

So it was raining for two days … a steady peaceful rain

FedEx left the Chewy boxes in the rain NOT in plastic bags (though they have plastic bags for just this reason)
and the boxes were not big Ӣ

UPS delivered two Big boxes later in the afternoon IN
plastic bags

Yeah UPS !!!

BOO FedEx

I am in central Florida; Chewy distribution center in Ocala. I’ve not had any problems. in fact the order I placed on Saturday arrived today. So at the moment I have no problems with anyone. But in reality I still had at least a week’s supply of the most critical item - my horse’s Muffins. Running out of those would cause the world as we know it to stop working:yes:. Dog food good for at least two weeks.

My issue with Chewy and FedEx is that while my packages arrive promptly, 24-48 hours after ordered, the boxes are almost always broken open and the kitty litter bags are also broken open with litter all over the shipping box. I call and complain and although they send me a new, free bag of litter, it’s annoying. And whoever is telling you they get no complaints about FedEx from customers I’d lying because I complain all the time.

I’ve given up on Chewy (via FedEx) when ordering in central Florida. Last year, the status updates for FedEx would say the orders were out for delivery for days on end, but they’d never arrive. When I called Chewy (several times), they said they see the same delivery info as we, the customers do. I just gave up after weeks of this. When Chewy says “no one” complains about FedEx, they’re not being truthful. Sorry Chewy, no more orders from me.

When this thread first started I thought nothing much of it because I’d had zero troubles with FedEx, ever. With Chewy or anyone else.

But ever since the fires here in Western Oregon, I think they are using it as an excuse to be lazy and thoughtless. I have orders from others not just Chewy, that are STILL not here, and the tracking info gives me NADA. Tells me ‘pending’. WTF does that even mean? It’s arrived at their local DC. One day the tracking info stated the date of delivery, a day later it says pending… eventually it shows up, but I ordered from companies I’ve ordered from in the past and I’ve gotten orders within a couple days. And these are items I actually need. I shudder to think if I had to rely on them for prescriptions of any sort.

Part of an order I made on Sept 22 is still not here. I called a couple of days ago and got a rather surly customer service rep who was remarkably indifferent. On the other hand, the last two Amazon orders have arrived a day earlier than I was told they would be. Looks like I will go back to Amazon for my cat food.

I have had nothing but amazing experiences with Chewy. If there is ever an issue, dented cans, a cat tree that was too small. They immediately credited me and sent a replacement free of charge.
@Obsidian Fire I seriously doubt they are using the fires as an excise to be lazy…do you see how silly that sounds?

If you have an issue, call or write an email. They make things right every time.

My Chewey autoship is still coming two days post order date. Since I am working from home and can meet the Fed Ex guy at the gate there are no more ripped up boxes. It also means I do not have to drive to the feedstore where nobody wears a mask and / or social distances. And yes that little county still has plenty of new cases every day.

I really have to agree. They’re just SO customer centric. I’ve never called, but the email responses are always very quick and very generous.

You can’t go wrong using auto-ship, plus they give you a discount when you do.

I just ordered from Chewy last Sunday and got the order the following day. They were having issues when Covid first started, but they seemed to get things under control fairly quick. They were having supply chain issues getting some food and other items. There could still be issues like that. All you have to do is look at the grocery store shelves.

That said, it sounds like your particular problem is FedEx. I’d call FedEx and raise hell, then let Chewy know. I had to do that one time when a drive just didn’t feel like coming out my way for nearly a week. After I complained, the order was delivered the next day.

I’ve had good FedEx drivers and bad ones. Some are careful with the boxes and some aren’t. Chewy has always made good on any damages or inconvenience.
