Chewy and FedEx

I know there are a lot of Chewy fans and customers on this board so I would like to know if any of you have any ideas for overcoming the Chewy-FedEx problem.
I expected a delivery of cat food from Chewy today and it has not arrived. This is the second time FedEx has delayed a shipment of cat food to me with no reason.

I only ordered from Chewy because the woman on the phone at Chewy assured me that they had had no complaints from customers about FedEx. So, in good faith, I placed the order. And, again, as with my cat food order from Walmart a week ago, FedEx has failed to deliver my order and its website will not take my tracking number or give me any updates.

Are any of you having this same problem with FedEx orders from Chewy? If so, what has been Chewy’s response to your complaints/questions?

Currently waiting on our Chewy order, 3 days late. We seem to get ours from UPS or FEDEX, UPS seems to be more on time when it comes that way. We are rural MT but when it’s UPS we get it quickly, even the coveted 2 day, but often we have to wait up to a week longer. It started with the snow storms last winter but the pandemic has been no help, it seems to be a sourcing issue. My horse feed arrives in 2 days every time but the dang dog food is a crap shoot. We recently changed brands and lost the momentum of our autoship. I placed a double order this last time. I like so many things about Chewy but the delivery reliability is not in play for us any more. They just say they are doing the best they can any time I’ve asked them.

I would order more often from Chewy IF they used UPS

FedEx is and has been AWFUL with my Chewy orders
wrong boxes
damaged boxes re-taped and never on time

sometimes delivered after 9 pm
FedEx never puts the boxes in plastic bags ( which they have and are told to use)

so when the boxes arrive three days  early in a tornado the items are soaked

One FedEx guy blamed his tardiness on the SUPER BOWL
I’m in the Midwest ! There was no traffic around my neighborhood that Sunday !

BUT here’s the ‘makes it better’ part
CALL and ask for a supervisor
never discuss with that first person
then they always apologize and send another = second shipment (no charge) and you’ll end up getting two of everything * and at lest be well stocked for awhile.

I HATE FedEx in my area ! Chewy is the only FedEx order I will suffer through
I refuse to order from several local businesses because they use FedEx
and I hate thawed and  stinky BBQ items.

Thanks, @OnAMission and @Zuzu . I am sorry you are having problems with FedEx but selfishly I’m glad to know I’m not the only one. I am in rural Georgia.

I appreciate the tip about asking for a supervisor next time. Chewy just sent me an e-mail this morning with a link to track my shipment but the link doesn’t work – not surprisingly!

I had to give up on chewy because of their relationship with FedEx. FedEx could not make it work.

Yes
, just say you’ve been experiencing some repeated problems and need to speak to a supervisor
you’ll hold on
never talk/ tell the story to the first person on their phone chain because you’ll still get nowhere sloowly and have to repeat the irritation several more times

GOOD LUCK !

You’ve got this now !!!

btw they have basically recovered from their huge increase caused by the pandemic
if it’s in stock you should get it in a timely fashion with a tracking number
OR they should send a second shipment on their dollar !
REMEMBER
you’re just trying to spend $ with their company
or could they suggest another more efficient company ???

Play hardball with Chewy
they need to complain to FedEx
we the customers can’t do that (:eek:don’t try that calling FedEx:mad: - a complete waste of time !! Forever
no need to ask me how I know

Talking to your delivery driver, if you can catch him, might be helpful.

I don’t have an issue with fedex delays here but they’re the only ones that leave packages by the garage (where there is no roof) when it’s raining. Sopping wet packages get old. I talked to the driver the day after one of those deliveries, and while he wasn’t the guy who left the boxes the day before, he was happy to talk to his manager about it, and it has improved.

All the delivery services are swamped right now. A little understanding goes a long way.

I am actually getting my Chewy boxes fast these days. Faster than pre-Covid. I have no earthly idea why. And the crazy thing is - I get two bags of horse feed and canned cat food. These come in two separate packages ( OK that makes sense due to the weight of the package) but the packages are always delivered on two separate days- usually one day later. One package has a bag of horse feed and the next package has a bag of horse feed and the cat food. So the driver has to make two separate trips out here to the boondocks to deliver my order. That is not very efficient.

Luckily I am working from home so I can look for these packages when I know they are being delivered. And I have the same problems you do - boxes not covered when it rains, boxes thrown over the gate ( not horse feed), ripped up boxes and the guy seems to come about 9PM. Being here to look for and listen for deliveries helps.

I did have big problems a few years ago. I would get a delivery notice that a package would be delivered that day and it would never come. When I looked at my tracking there was a note that “Customer requested a new delivery date”. Umm no! So I got a number for fedex and told them their delivery guy was lying and I was getting tired of these notices that I requested a new delivery date. That stopped happening.

Love me my Chewy!!! That means I don’t have to go to TSC and the other feed store where NOBODY will wear a mask. And social distancing means they might not cough on you. I am avoiding these places like the plague these days.

Who do you order from now that doesn’t use FedEx? I saw Petflow online but they don’t have great reviews.

No need-- you probably know the same way I know!
I guess I could sit out front and wait for the FedEx driver.

I’m not having any problem with Chewy and FedEx, either. But, I am in a well-populated suburban area, which probably makes a difference. I am also fortunate in that I am retired, and a gardener, so I am often outside when any of the services deliver. I am on a “Hi! How are you today?” basis with all of them, and know the names of a couple. My FedEx driver knows where to leave my packages, and just how to stack them so that they are easiest for me to open (I get cat food, bird seed and, heaviest of all, cat litter from Chewy) He’s even offered to help me get the packages inside a couple of times, which I have refused because it’s actually easier for me to open the boxes outside on the sidewalk.

I went back to buying a different feed locally after 2 separate orders of buckeye took 2-3 weeks to show up and fed ex had no idea where they were.

If I know they are coming I will roll my garbage can out the gate so the guy can put the box on the top of the garbage can. No bending over for either of us. Or now that I am working from home I back my car up to the gate. When they come ( if I hear them) I can back up to their truck and pop the hatchback and he can set it in there. No bending over for either of us, no carrying the heavy box very far, and it is out of the weather. I can leave it in there or drive it down to the barn. My last Chewy package came in two days. That is unheard of out here. Back when I tried Amazon Prime - they took 6 days for delivery. Usual time is 3 to 4 days. I live in the sticks.

TMares that is weird. We live in the same rural Alabama but I think I am more in the sticks. My drivers are coming from Tuscaloosa so that might be the difference. I get Buckeye Grow’nWin and I don’t have that problem. I did have a bag of dry cat food go missing after the first bag arrived ripped up. The driver said he delivered it to the singlewide next to the cow pasture. I told them that was not me and I couldn’t figure out where that was . I have no idea where the guy delivered it. I just gave up and got a refund on my credit card. No problems with horse feed.

I haven’t had problems with FedEx other than the occasional shipment a day or two late. I have had problems with Chewy’s packing of boxes or lack thereof. I got one box that appeared on the step with one strip of packing tape diagonally across the top of the box. I don’t know how it even got there with the contents still in it. It had 2-20lb bags of cat litter and supposedly a case of 8 small tubs of dog food for my Mom’s dog. One of the bags of cat litter had a tear so the packer dumped the torn bag in a plastic bag and dumped it in the box. The case of dog food
single tubs just thrown in the box and there were only 7 not the 8 as was the stated on the website:(. I called and they did replace the whole order.

My last sat order was similar. They crammed 3 flats of small cat food cans (24/flat) and 2-20 lb bags of cat litter in one box. Come on Chewy
don’t kill the delivery driver. The box only had one strip of tape across the top and it was raining cat litter out the crack. Oh yeah, the corner of one of the flats had torn a bag of cat litter:rolleyes:.

I have had some delays from FedEx but I try to make sure I build in a few days of overlap to my kitties don’t run out of anything. I do now get a prescription from Chewy and make sure I order at least 14 days ahead.

Susan

I TIP

 • the drivers and meet them at the gate IF the tracking number is accurate

I have done my very best to establish and maintain a good relationship with all the delivery services.

HOWEVER !!! FedEx continues to be Awful
especially with CHEWY !

enough said

Yeah, I don’t know what the actual issue is, I just knew that I couldn’t trust them (FedEx). I do a ton of Amazon prime shopping and Michael the driver and I are buds

I do prefer UPS. I get the notice that they are delivering and I get to see where the truck is in relation to my house. It always gets delivered before it says that he is “in my neighborhood” so I think there is a time delay. But it gives me a better idea of when to look for the package. And since we are getting storms EVERY DAY I like to get the box before it gets wet. I don’t get that with fedex.

I think Fedex might be having problems at some distribution centers. I have placed an order at 4pm with Chewy and had it on my doorstep the very next morning. I just assume that when I place an order, it will sometimes arrive before they send me an email that it was shipped.

I bought a saddle and it was delayed by fedex. I’m not certain why they are having problems but I would assume those problems are related to the pandemic
As the problem doesn’t appear to be in this region, but when shipping from different states.

I haven’t had a problem with the FedEx delivery, but I had had boxes delivered that weren’t sealed and we’re missing items that Chewy’s wouldn’t replace. More annoying, though, is that when the whole covid mess started, they emailed that they were changing my ship dates. Now some months I run out and have to buy more locally, and sometimes I don’t — I never know when I’ll get a shipment until they email me. It will easier to buy it locally.
