I am so grossed out and irritated. I went into the barn to grab another bale of timothy and it had poop on it and was wet. Touched another and it was soaked on top and smelled like diarrhea. They are big, heavy bales that aren’t cheap and I don’t want to throw them out, but are they even usable?:mad::mad:
I would not use them. Bird poop can contain a lot of disease. Perhaps tarp in the future?
Sorry, but they’re now called “mulch hay.”

That’s what I figured. Someone went into my tack area and left the doors open allowing the free rangers access. It bugs me that they got my expensive bales but not the coastal bale which is far cheaper on the other side of the 15’ room. AND I JUST bought them like 3 days ago. Chicken noodle soup anyone???
Chickens do not urinate - the white cap on their poop is their version of pee.
So I’d worry something else ruined your hay. Opossum or raccoon?
In either case I’d toss it.
Well that is good and interesting to know. I know the pile I saw was either chicken or turkey. But the rest could be something else like you are suggesting. I was really kinda shocked to find it like that.
Your cats or dogs can ( and will) pee on the hay especially if something else does first.
