On a serious note - reading this thread has made me wonder if my niece (7 yrs old) would have turned into this 12 year old kid in a few years.
My sister is an excellent mother; a single parent. However, the public school system she was forced to send the child to is abysmal. Violence even in elementary schools, my niece was taunted, assaulted, was afraid to go into the cafeteria… it was pretty bad. My sister wasn’t told what was happening - even when the child was beaten on the schoolbus.
Anyway - my sister kept trying to work within the school system to figure out what was going on. The child started to become disrespectful, angry, deceitful, she started to strike my sister, hit the animals - the entire family was concerned about this kid. It had all started when she started school - before that she had been a loving, cheerful kid.
My sister finally found out what was happening, and after trying to resolve the problems, trying to get the kid into a different school - gave up. The family took up a collection and we’re helping to pay for private school. We just had to get the kid out of that environment.
Within a few months - her grades improved, and she started to leap out of bed to get ready for school. Her manners, her conduct - all normal. She doesn’t lie anymore, she’s not morose, she laughs… she’s become a normal goofy kid.
I’m revealing this rather personal information in the hope that this kid can be similarly transformed - before it’s too late. She may indeed need professional help, or even have a mental illness. And I’d encourage anyone involved to keep that in mind when dealing with her.
But maybe just a different environment - a stable one, with rules and expectations, and the constant influence of decent people will help her blossom into the person she should be. And farm life might be better for her than an urban one - or a home with elderly/ill people. Working with animals can be very therapeutic (with supervision in her case, obviously)
If the kid lived near me I’d be taking this very seriously and making damn sure my animals and home were protected. There are some sick people out there and she may be one of them. But perhaps this isn’t a hopeless case and this 12 year old demon spawn can still become a solid citizen. With professional help if needed.
In the meantime - things like the nannycam, verifying the source of prank phone calls, documenting incidents, may prove vital in getting law enforcement involved should it become necessary. I would not hesitate to keep them fully apprised. The kid doesn’t need to know - but there should be a Plan B if the farmer takes her in, or the kid stays with Grandma. Semper Paratus.
Best of luck to you - and a thank you to the Moderator for evicting the troll from under his bridge. The smell was starting to make my eyes water.

These things must be handled gently and with some preparation.
First, you have to start dropping into casual conversation the fact that you belong to an internet bulletin board with posters from around the world to talk about horse stuff. That usually takes a few minutes to settle in…tell some random story about how you read about…i dunno…make something up. CCTL would be a good story to tell. Most folks get a kick out of that one.:yes:
Then, if he doesn’t seem TOO freaked out, maybe mention that you posted here about the girl.
And if he’s still not giving you odd looks, I think you’re okay to mention that you mentioned HIM out on the world wide web and that “everyone here” thinks he’s fabulous.
If he’s still got a smile on his face, you can explain stick art and present him with his very own.

Better than daytime tv!
This was a bad, bad week to try to ‘quit’ COTH cold turkey. This board is better than daytime tv - and a LOT more addicting!
My resolve to not spend work time online only lasts a week or two anyway… in which much actual work is accomplished and I again feel justified spending countless hours lurking and laughing… but this week? Not gonna happen! :lol:
