My daughter is moving up to Children’s Hunter and 3’ eq this year. I am unfamiliar with the finals that she may be able to qualify for, how to apply/register, etc. I believe there is one final at Washington and one at Capital Challenge? Can someone point me in the right direction to get the information, or give me a 101 on the topic? TIA!
The THIS medal has finals at Cap Challenge. Info here - https://www.ryegate.com/ncm.php Probably not the easiest thing to get into since they don’t take a ton for the finals.
There are also Children’s Hunters at Cap Challenge on a first-come, first-served basis.
Not sure about WIHS.
Also zone Children’s Hunter finals.
Depending on where you live there may be state or local associations that have 3’ medal finals. We have a lot in California. YMMV.
At Cap Challenge there is the NAL children’s hunter final. At Washington, the WIHS final. Both of these you qualify for through participation and success in the Children’s hunter classics at normal shows. At Cap Challenge there is also a normal first come first served division. You can also qualify your children’s hunter for Harrisburg and I believe there is now a hunter classic type thing at the National for children’s hunters.
Thank you!
There is a Children’s Hunter Classic at the National Horse Show, not sure how hard it is to qualify for but a great opportunity to ride in the Alltech Arena, it is the same weekend as Maclay finals. THIS finals is a 3’ equitation final but you will need a lot of points throughout the year, only the top 40 qualify, this is during Capital Challenge equitation weekend and the following weekend at CC they have the Children’s Hunter division which is first come first serve! Harrisburg also has the Children’s Hunter where I think they take the top 25 from the year but it is also split into older and younger! Good luck to your daughter!
