" “If there is credible information, we do that,” Arthur said. “Frankly, if you’re a more than 30% trainer, you should expect to see us in your barn.” "
So if you are successful, you’re suspected of cheating and policed. I’ve been through this a couple times with my trainer. It’s embarrassing and dehumanizing to have your vehicle searched in the barn area.
If drug regulation is for the protection of the bettors and health of the horses, why aren’t barns searched on an ongoing and random basis? I know of more than a handful of 5-10% trainers who do all kinds of crazy stuff and get away with it because despite pushing that envelope they still don’t win races so they don’t get tested. Yet their horses are still at risk and they are still cheating.
