I personally would find it hard to work with an organization that originally at best denied its involvement with her horse’s death, and at work may have actively worked to cover it up. I really applaud Kc Branscomb for using her position to leverage them into working with her to try to address what happened and prevent a repeat situation. I think many others would have gone full scorched earth instead (which I could understand!)

If they are looking into “novel therapies” they should consider inviting some European talent onto the board of advisers. I just read an older but very interesting interview with Dr. Leo DeBacker of Belgium who guided something like 8 national teams over the course of 6 Olympic cycles and was very proud he never had a positive drug test. He would be a fountain of information.

I mean, isn’t that kind of how the horse wound up dead in the first place? Trying to use “legal” therapies to keep the horses performing because medication rules (for many tested and well known therapeutic substances) at the FEI level are so strict?

I also don’t know the name referenced above and their practices, but Lance Armstrong was super proud of never having a positive test for himself (except o think there was one that was covered up) over thousands of in and out of competition tests. And well, we know now what really happened.
