Chrome-ology . . .

I think a breast plate might be a good idea since the World Cup obviously wasn’t his first slip.

Most definitely! His saddle fitting is a wreck waiting to happen.

The transition wasn’t overnight. But mile heats became the fad with the dirt ovals, the first of which began cropping up in the late 1700s.

But people talk about these great distance horses as if they were part of their childhood.

I have a really interesting book about the Thoroughbred horse from 1800-pre Civil War, also published in the early 1900s. I wish I could share it here![/QUOTE]

The British themselves didn’t start their dash races until the middle/late 1700s. One thing that I didn’t know is that, according to The American Thoroughbred, horses couldn’t compete in 4 mile races until they were six years old. In dash Futurities, 2 year olds competed at 6 furlongs, and the distances lengthened as they aged. Horses in the heat races frequently raced until they were 9 years old or so.

I wonder if it has something to do with the way he is built?

Do they ever use no-slip saddle pads on tbs?

Here we go again with these connections…

Good luck to the horse. I still cannot stand the connections.

I’m sure it does having had a few over the years with the same kind of…beefy?..shoulder. Do whatever you want, that sucker gets pushed aft with every stride. Use a breast collar but in a big strided, hard running horse? It can pull and Ive seen some with rubs just working hard and fast in unrelated jobs off the track.

Tough choice. You dont want it to slip back but don’t want it to bother the horse and possibly back them off. Think I’ve seen a few on the TV over in Europe but isn’t the racing saddle a bit different? Never recall seeing one over here, not to say nobody uses them but it’s rare if they do on race day.

Art Sherman put it out on the Roger Stein radio show that he was mis-quoted.

A morning with Team Chrome.

Those shoes are ugly and cool at the same time.

Keeping the Pacific Classic race day jitters under control. Unplanned or not, it worked.
