Circle J trailers

Anyone have experience with Circle J trailers? I’m looking at a used two horse slant for local trips. They seem to be popular in my area. Thanks in advance.

We have one and it’s been pretty solid overall.

One exception is the paneling on the rear doors, which have rusted through the welds and are now cosmetically not nice. One of these days we may pay a shop to remove the doors, re-weld a new panel, and repaint the doors. Ours is a very basic model with a nice tack room and water tank. The suspension is basic on ours (leaf springs and solid shackles) and has gotten squeaky since the bushings have worn through. Functional but not plush and typical for an affordable 2-horse slant.

The interior around the horses seems well designed. The mats were not very durable and a couple of our nervous ones once pawed off sections on the wall and through the floor, but this was repaired with a heavier-duty rubber mat of a larger size so that when they pawed they couldn’t move it around because they were still standing on it. The wood floor is still original and going strong.

I replaced the wheel bearings once and they were made in Romania - replaced with Timkens for under $100, but I suspect that’s par for the course with any trailer axle.

Circle J is out of business. If you need parts / support, another company picked up some level of what was left of them but I wouldn’t count on it.

I wouldn’t pay extra for it but it is a good solid trailer. We’ve used ours regularly for 5 years and with repairs for the wear/tear I’ve mentioned, it could go another 5 more.

We had one, brand new, back in the 80s. Fenders rusted thru in less than 5 years. And the saddle rack floor joint rusted out and the saddle rack broke off. Also had to replace the floors. Hopefully, they’ve improved the quality since then. We really aren’t hard on our trailers.

We swear by Featherlight now!
