Could somebody please tell me the difference. I had no idea the two even existed until our new pup is registered with CKC instead of AKC.
If you mean Canadian Kennel Club, that is self explanatory, the canadian equivalent to our American Kennel Club.
In the USA, there is also the UKC, United Kennel Club, that used to register many breeds that were not AKC approved, but were never as large or put as many shows as the AKC did, were more regional.
If you are talking about the Continental Kennel Club, that is the one, along with NKC, National Kennel Club, that puppy millers started when the AKC started getting too strict for their liking.
At that time, the talk was that Hunt, the main puppy mill buyer and distributor to pet animal auctions and pet stores, is who backed the Continental Kennel Club.
That was many years ago, don’t know what relevance it may have today.
Contintal Kennell club.
Yup, that’s the crap puppy mill kennel club I’m afraid.

CKC is also what “designer dog” backyard breeders use to justify high prices for their mutts. Breeds like “Morkie” and “Puggle”. The CKC will register just about anything with a photo, I believe.

Yeah Continental Kennel Club is worthless and meaningless. Some very good friends of mine bred their two dogs (well…left them both intact and let nature take it’s course) and were advertising the pups as CKC registered. It was ALL I could do to keep my mouth shut. Sometimes you can’t change people.
The registrations from this club are worth less than the paper they print them on.
