Clinic attire spin off

For those who want a regular, lightweight, not too hot vest…I use a softshell type vest that has no insulation but still offers a little wind/water protection if the weather cools off a bit. It’s not too hot for warm days and much cooler than all my insulated alternatives. I think it was a Haggarty’s brand.

Agree with wide waistband and high rise mix and then a stiffer fabric sunshirt if you are in hot weather and vest is a no-no. Ariat has sunshirts with no “cling,” great for concealing the tummy roll.

I have a gorgeous grey one with a velvet color and snaffle bit accent on the back. It ran SUPER small. I ordered my normal size, and had to return it and upsize. They were an amazing company to deal with.

Good to know! I have it bookmarked for when I have some extra cash squirreled away (I wanted to grow my hair out right?)

Here’s what I wore yesterday and it did an admirable job hiding my 50 yr old winter/Girl Scouts Cookie season “donut”

I apologize for the overly fuzzy pic but it’s a screenshot from a video.

The outfit was:

Trauma Void Lynx helmet
Heritage Gloves
Noble sunshirt
Ariat Heritage Breeches
Ariat Volant Boots,
North Face Windstopper vest with pockets on the front in the right places to avoid seeing the “Donut roll”

I think white/tan breeches tend to showcase make our legs/butts look bigger. For me, I feel like my thighs/legs/butt look a LOT bigger when I have the white breeches on :expressionless:Kind of the same with jeans/pants, darker shades can make ones’ lower half look smaller. I would love to get other user’s opinion, but I feel in a clinic, you could probably do darker-shaded breeches if they are nice and a conservative darker color (i.e. navy, brown, black)

Before I read your post, I thought you were a junior or college student! I love your outfit!

You might want to get an eye exam then but my ego adores your remark and begs you to do it again.

Going to share what we did as juniors/early amateurs, when Tailored Sportsmans offered no stretch and we wanted a baggy look. It would work well in this circumstance.
We bought our breeches a size or 2 too big and then belted them. Sometimes I’d have the seat tailored a bit, but usually it was fine. Hear me out, if you buy bigger breeches (high-waisted) and then belt them, it’s a looser fit, so no muffin top or sausage casing look. I think it gets rough when you’re at the end of the belt and you’re trying to tuck in shirt with pants that have bunched up and look skin tight. Nobody but you see the true size, so it’s a little sleeker when you have a solid sun shirt or polo up top (try for a female cut that gives you a flattering silhouette) and looser breeches IMO. Play around with sizes and remember that different designers cut differently, so it’s ok to have random sizings, as long as the overall picture makes you happy.

For reference, my highest weight Was 163lbs at 5’5”. All carried around my mid section, I am super flat chested so I never looked “balanced” or “hourglass” at this weight. I looked plump. Pear shaped for sure.

I agree with the above posters - it starts with the breeches. My go to was a struck breech (size 30). I’m VERY short in the legs and long torso and liked where they hit my mid section. I found they weren’t stiff supportive in the front section of my belly but they were comfortable. Wide, stiff waist band did give a bit of muffin top support.

I would often wear those trendy elastic belts with it. A leather belt at times.

For the top, a Kerrits sun shirt in size L. I found that it was just fitted enough. But my trick would be after tucking it in to just slightly pull it up to give a bit of extra fabric around the muffin top. Does that make sense? It still looked fitted but significantly more flattering than tightly tucked in. I also like the length of these shirts since they were just long enough to tuck in without an excess amount of fabric under the pants.

Looking for outfit recs are so tough. I found since I am SO flat chested I just never ever looked proportionate. Everyone’s body is so different. I definitely suggest going to a tack store and trying different combinations of pants/shirts and go from there. Please update us when you find “the” outfit!

These are all nice but any suggestion to tuck is going to be ignored… Sorry Charlie . Blousing my shirt (the term for tucking and then pulling a little back out) does nothing to help me.

But maybe they will help someone else!

This is me now. I hate feeling like a sausage in casing and I hate the butt lumps I get when tucking my shirt into the sausage pants. I’m in my late 30’s and usually wear a 30 but have a 32 in TS. I also like the longer line of dark breeches and dark boots.

Female-cut polo shirt untucked with similar color tank undershirt tucked in so you disquise any areas that may show over jumps? I think I found 1/2 sleeve polos from Noble that didn’t show off the upper-arm ham and looked flattering.

Yes! Also, oddly enough, as someone that lives in her yoga pants day-in and day-out (now especially since they have made them with pockets for phones), I refuse to wear pull-on breeches. I haven’t had a pair since my teen years truthfully. The bubble butt just doesn’t work well with them and you can’t tuck anything in and look polished. I went for years when I wasn’t in a lesson doing denim and half or full chaps until it became a thing that the material was destroying the pommel section of the French saddles. So then went back to traditional breeches with belts and higher waists.

Sleeves are too short and tight! At least the Dickies brand.

Thank you, this is my complaint as well! Clearly not meant for women with biceps. Even sizing up doesn’t help, just baggy body and tiny sleeves.

Ok this is slightly off Clinic wear, but on topic for useful advice…

Men’s pants at walmart are AWESOME fitting on me. And I am typically able to wear things right off the rack in womens sizes and I have some curves, but not overly pudgy, when not in Girl Scout Cookie season.

(5’7", 150 lbs normally, 155 now, 36C, 39" hips)

These pants ROCK, and my husband loves how they make my butt look. Also… Men’s depth pockets…WHERE has this been my whole life???

This is them on the Walmart site currently:

This is them on the Wrangler site with better pics/description.

I LOVE them. Covet them. Etc.

Also… for those still in Winter for a while… Costco has some men’s fleece line “tech Pants” by Eddie Bauer that are also epicly awesome. They also fit me great, though admittedly I went up one waist size to allow for ‘winter fluff’ so I wear a belt with them.

Amazon has smaller waist sizes still. Costco doesn’t. But here are both links:

Yes! Absolutely. I have a hard time finding shirts that are comfortable because of these stick arms that seem to be on all new clothes these days.

I might have to try these. My hiking pants that I wear to do horse care are low rise and I hate them.
