There’s a big ole difference between putting a horse with McCutcheons and putting one with a relatively inexperienced showman, albeit, a good colt starter.
I was not aware Clinton Anderson was a new comer
He said on Andrea Fappani’s that he is newer to showing in the big leagues. So compared to the McCutcheons, yes he is a new comer.
But that’s what happens. It turns into pay to play at some level, and at that level, the nonpros who don’t have bank can’t compete against the nonpros who buy expensive horses and keep the horse with a trainer. My sport (ranch) is chock full of exreiners. Unfortunately it too is becoming pricey.
I agree. I fit into the demographic Hunter Kid said is the average for NRHA. I show NRCHA and just bought a car priced horse. This was a HUGE expense for my household. It seems since I bought him, the prices have dramatically increased. Someone I know is looking for a beginner level boxer and can up twice what I paid for my fence horse. I am starting to wonder when I will be priced out of the game. I took my horse to reining to school with my trainer and paid $300 for two classes that were club classes. I think every horse sport is going price out the little guys like me in the next ten years. It is sad really.
Yep. I don’t even show at that level, and some of the competitors are buying car priced horses. And I’m on the East Coast.
