Clippers - Heiniger Saphir

Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience with the Heiniger Saphirs as full body clippers? I have a set of Lister Stars that I don’t love - I find they overheat, heavy and too noisy for the horse. I was looking to get either a set of cordless clippers or possibly a smaller / quieter corded clipper to replace them.

Any recommendations? I only clip 1-2 each year.

I have not personally used these but I have heard wonderful things about them. I’ve found the Wahl KM10 clippers are very powerful while still being quiet and stay cool.

Thanks, that’s good to know. I think they are a bit cheaper as well

I’ve never used these but I did pick them up in the store one day. I’ve heard great things about the brand and no cord is certainly tempting. But just in that quick feel I wasn’t in love. While the whole unit was light enough it felt like the battery itself was a bit heavy and would throw the clipper off balance. I dunno, I base that only on a real quick feel… I certainly wasn’t willing to pay the price to test the theory.

FWIW I’m also a KM10 user and love them for their power and longevity in the “small” clipper class. They can be a little loud for “small” but will still be quieter than your Listers. The small Andis clippers would also likely suit you… very, very light and quiet. I just find they tend to crap out if you do too many body clips with them, but as long as your couple aren’t total yaks, you’d be fine.

I was just about to post a question about the Heiniger Saphir. Where are these sold in the US? Any deals? I had Andis AGC 2 speed, and they were ok, so if I’m buying one set of clippers I want it to do everything. I’m also wondering since this design is now almost 10 years old if there isn’t something new/ better out there?
