Cole of Cole and Marmalade fame has large cell lymphoma

Or am I the only one who follows cats on Facebook! Lol In all seriousness, this makes me sad. I have never met this kitty or his family but have followed them 2-3 years and a quick Google search made me realize the seriousness of the prognosis. Crap. As if my own cats don’t give me enough heartache, now a strangers do.

I know. I cried when Grumpy Cat died, and I cried when Grandpa Mason died. When you follow them, they sort of become ‘yours,’ in a non-creepy, totally sweet kind of way.

Oh no! Large cell is the more aggressive form too ☹

I cried when Grandpa Mason died and Little Bub. Mason was an old man and Bub had health issues but Cole is a young cat. I know his family is devastated.

His is in his sinuses.

Oh, damn. I just looked up large-cell lymphoma, as my old guy has suddenly had issues with sinus/upper respiratory infection and sudden weight loss. We’ve been trying for two weeks to get things to resolve, but he’s not improving as we’d hoped he would. All the symptoms of large-cell GI lymphoma seem to fit with him. Just put a call in to the vet to see if he thinks that’s a possibility.

Did Cole have FIV, or was he FeLV positive? With younger cats, it seems they develop lymphoma if they are one or the other.

I need to check. Marmalade is an FIV cat but I thought Cole was healthy. Just checked. Cole has no other history.

They had to do a sinus biopsy to determine what it was. He was suddenly sinusy and snotty. He was tested for bacteria and fungus which came back negative so I think that’s when they did a biopsy to look for other causes.
