Of course… I am learning fast that I have to be extremely specific here on COTH, because if not I’ll get called on it! LOL I only mean that Welsh bloodlines are inspectable and can be registered as apposed to other breeds that the silver gene is more common in like Shetland, Rocky Mountain horses, etc. I was going to include Morgans, but I have heard of a few people breeding Morgans to approved WB’s and having foals inspected. I don’t know with who… but just to be careful I’ll leave them out. 
You make perfect sense… I suppose I implied (wrongly… I didn’t intend it to sound that way) that a pony could be inspected and registered as a warmblood horse. LOL It would be good to have a site (or thread) that explained the different options for ponies.:yes:

Update on our brown silver dapple mare, Safyre.
Safyre was presented to ISR/Oldenburg N.A. on August 20, 2011. She received 102 points and was approved and entered into the ISR Mare Book due to pedigree. She earned

Overall Impression & Development: 7
Head: 7
Hindlegs: 7
Swing & Elasticity of Gaits: 6.5
all other scores were 6’s.
We are absolutely thrilled and are VERY excited to see her Sir Gregory foal next year!!!

Although black silver is stunning and will be created at some point in due time, I hope people will not just have blinders on for black silver only and desire quality first then the color.
I am saying this because color breeders often get a bad wrap for not breeding quality and only color. The funny thing that has happened to me several times now is people will go with a lesser quality individual and pass on a better quality, papered individual because it’s the wrong variation silver. It really leaves one scratching their head.
Developing silver sport horses and/or warmbloods is going to take time and several generations. If we focus on quality first and color secondary, the rest will fall into place and the product created will be a good foundation for the future.

I absolutely agree. Its so wonderful that your mare was approved… a step in the right direction! Its helpful that warmblood foals (mostly) need to be inspected to be registered. That will help keep the quality up, even if people are choosing to breed color.

Congratulations and how exciting for you your mare looks very nice.
I’m not a colour person by any means, but have a very soft spot for the silver gene- my first pony, who I have had since I was ten years old, and still have to this day, is a welsh/haffy and a ‘taffy’ as we call it in this country, the black points, the dapples and the beautiful silver blonde mane and tail, he’s arguably the best horse to ever walk the planet.
I would dearly love to own a warmblood with this gene one day, but I won’t compromise on quality, so I think for the time being I’ll have to just cope with my two liver chestnuts, similar, but not quite the same …

I don’t believe there are any known or confirmed full WB stallions out there. It has been thought to be in the Dutch breed but it has yet to truly be confirmed.
I have recently seen a couple Dutch horses that people have thought were silver because they have a silver tail or silver hairs through out their body but the horses points we black not diluted as seen with true silver. I suspect that these horses are carrying a sabino or rabicano gene which people think is silver.
I certainly understand not compromising quality. Safyre being approved with such a nice solid score is a step in the right direction. It will take some time to get there and I hope more people will get on board to help make it happen. As far as I know there are a very few trying to create silver warmblood sport horses.
The only silver-tailed WBs I’ve seen have been most likely a Gulastra Plume tail as opposed to Silver. Or, just “odd silver” LOL Pablo seems to like to do this. Or is it Pablito? One of them I’m pretty sure :lol:
Vocas does not look silver or rabicano, he looks like a liver chestnut with a bicolor tail. You see that middle white in tobianos a lot (even very minimal ones) but he isn’t tobiano.
On this one I am guessing a genetic oddity or mistake (chimera?) . You can click on this picture and make it GIANT.

Last year I posted that my mare, Safyre (brown silver), earned 102 pts with ISR/OLD. She was in-foal to Sir Gregory for 2012. She foal May 1, 2012 a beautiful bay filly (no silver) we named, Sachi. We are so pleased with her. She went to her inspection last week and was a Premium Foal & Site Champion!
Also Safyre’s silver 1/2 sisters, Khepri (Bay Silver) & Montana (Black Silver) were presented for breeding approval by ISR/OLD. Khepri earned 105 points, a Premium score and Montana earned 102 points.
Having owned their brown silver sire, Champs Guthrie, I am absolutely estatic about their scores! I am looking forward top the future and development of silver sport horses. Seems as if we have a good start & foundation to build from.

Solaris Sporthorses posted this lovely KWPN mare and her foal by their stallion Amoureux. Mare & foal are clearly silver, I believe brown silver. The mare is by a Ferro son; wish I knew the rest of her breeding!
