Yes you are correct, his dam is a draft cross of unknown breeding, she has the silver dapple gene.

The mare is actually an NRPS mare by a KWPN BWP approved son of Ferro. Her colt is registered KWPN though.
The same breeder also has a KWPN mare by Jet Set D from the successfull Haafke damline, that is tested silver and one of her daughters who has also tested silver but is chestnut.
The silver gene has been transmitted from the KWPN Gelders lines into the riding horse section of the KWPN stud book.
Angelina at Stal D (Special D) has a couple of mares from the Aafke dam line, (Special D’s dam line) It was introduced through the Gelders stallion Uron.

The most beautiful Silver mare from this line has to be Voice D
Another of our colleagues in the Netherlands has a silver KWPN colt foal from the same dam line, sire, Voice. He is being kept entire as a future stallion prospect. A few years to wait yet till he is of age.
There’s also a silver dapple KWPN stallion by Goodtimes (SSH licensed) Vivaldi in Scotland and again the silver comes through the damline of Uron. I saw him at the inspections aged thre. There were actually two silvers presented that year and both licensed the second Vision was also from the same damline. Toinne Hoefs and Johan Knaap if I remember rightly were the inspectors. I took photos of them both as was intruiged by their colouring not to mention they both moved very well and Vivaldi’s jump was the highest scoring of the day.

My guess is Galustre Plume/Flaxen + Sooty.?
Osilvio is chestnut, his sire Silvio II is a known producer of Gallustre Plume on bays. Have seen direct descendants at VDL some are registered as Silver but aren’t as there was no silver in the dam line and there is none in Silvios. Pretty sure have seen a few of with his bloodlines at the auctions over the years also registered as silver brown but were Gallustre Plume.

Have a really good pic of a chestnut with silver mane and tail that tested negative for silver will see if I can find it.
Is Bazuin a true silver? Couldn’t he just be a flaxen chestnut? He has no dark points below the knee his legs are chestnut. ?

ggatsby11 - what are your plans for the stallion? I don’t want to come across as holier-than-thou, and I know my opinion was not asked for, but it seems a bit unnecessary to keep him entire when one whole half of his genetic material is unknown. His colour is not enough reason to breed from him. Sorry to sound so mean but I am sure this is a sentiment shared by many.
No real plans, he has an excellent temperment and is very trainable. I’m not trying to market him as world class stallion or anything. He has correct confirmation, correct and good quality gaits, and good jumping form. I’ve free jumped him over 3’6(1.15m). I compete in three day eventing, and although there are many well bred warmbloods, there are many cross bred horses of all types that are successful. I just wanted to share b/c his of his color is a great example of the silver gene expressed on a black horse.

Found this thread almost 10 years old and thought it would be worth updating as in 2021 there are a lot of warmblood silvers out there, including plenty of approved stallions.
None approved in NA (one that is going up for approval soon though), but in Europe there are these silver stallions:
Horizon, Jaguar, Skyfall (all three stallions from same line, all KWPN)
Oldlands Vivaldi (AES/KWPN) - competed up to 1.4m jumping level before retiring
Imposant EM (KWPN, gelder type) Prix St Georges level
Highlight D (Grand Prix dressage) (not sure if he is standing yet)
Then there are three more young silver WB stallions I know of that will likely go for approval within the next 1-2 years. And countless fillies/mares/geldings out there!
None in NZ/AU aware of but I do think semen avail for Horizon and Vivaldi over there.

There is now the first ever approved silver Warmblood stallion in the USA.
Zabbra Cadabbra, 3 year old 16.2 , Black Silver Swedish Warmblood Stallion (by Ironman H x Gribaldi) has received his Preliminary Stallion Approval through Westfalen NA
