Coloured tack - the struggle is real ;)

I started thinking about dabbling in endurance this year, and caved and bought a zilco add on halter and rope halter when my pony started having ear shy issues and being silly during bridling. Coming from a more traditional English background (dressage/eventing), it was a real stretch for me to buy hunter green instead of brown or black. I also bought hunter green easy care stowaway packs (highly recommended, very secure/no bounce, and no rings on your saddle required!)

I figured hunter green wasn’t too loud and would work for my dark chestnut, my dark bay and my bay tobiano.

Except now I want colour! And I’m thinking mixing some yellow would be nice and add some flash, especially since the dark bay is my most likely endurance candidate. Except it seems yellow isn’t common.

I’m on the hunt for a yellow English shaped pad, but it seems no one does fleecy pads in yellow

I thought mostly hunter with a yellow pad and yellow rope halter would add a smidge of flash, plan foiled!

Go custom!!!

I read your post and thought to myself, Normandy_shores, must not know how to google!

So I tried to find you one… and failed :frowning:

What about going with one of the dark green cool back pads and selling your green saddle bags in lieu of yellow?

Snug-pax does a yellow pack and I also found this yellow one that looks like a stowaway design

Or you could also get a custom green/ yellow browband, or yellow reins, or yellow stirrups, or a yellow bottle holder.

I’m going to quit posting one line at a time now… unless I think of something else pertinent.

I have nothing to add, other than yellow is the best color  good luck, and if you find something please post a link

Let me know if you like any of these or if you want more!

Get a synthetic fleece pad in white and some dye made for that particular fabric type.

Yellow doesn’t hold up well. But if you really want it, you can get a Pad from SKito (not affiliated). He can make pads for any saddle in any color you choose. Good quality too

Overall, synthetics are pretty hard to dye. Skito or other endurance pad maker is likely to work pretty hard to fill your needs - they are mostly small individual or family-run businesses.

American Trail Gear is another company that does custom biothane.

But don’t overlook the easiest way to add yellow - your own clothing! It is a pretty good choice for visibility too.

Rit just came out with a dye specific for synthetics that is supposed to be really good.

Ooooh, I LOVE yellow. My fav color! But, yes, we are in the deep minority   That color is hard to find.

I haven’t broken down - yet - to buy yellow biothane but have to bookmark the options already offered.

VTO Saddlery has a PRI Dressage Saddle Pad in “lemon” that is exquisitely bright. Mine has held up well, too. Not fleece, but you can add a fleecy half pad underneath.

You can also order a custom Mattes pad in bright yellow that does have sheepskin, but it is spendy.

Here is another you could customize

Or if it was me…I’d call Ecogold and see if they would make me a xc saddle pad in yellow. I bet they would…I have one in royal blue that is great!
