Coloured Warmblood Stallions

I have 2 Pallido Blu yearling colts. Both are quiet and sane! Long legs! Both take after their mothers in conformation (no complaints!!).

Zafferano (Zaladin MI - Bernstein 761 - Chagall 455) is a very interesting palomino stallion in Sweden. We are looking to bring in his semen in January. He is currently undertaking the 50-days test in Schleickau. GOV has been very interested in him and have already stated they will approve him if he scores at least 7.8 and with that score he will also be lifetime approved for Sweden. I have spoken with the owner a few times and she is also looking at presenting him to Rhineland e.V. (Rheinisches Pferdestammbuch e.V) and also looking at getting him collected at Celle so that frozen semen is available. Won’t know any more about it until the beginning of December when he finishes the test and successfully does Keuring for GOV, etc.

Canadians have some

After settling on Utah Van Erpekom when deciding who i’d like to look into breeding my mare to (key words: look into), I found out that they do not ship his semen to the USA. I’ve been on a search for quite some time now to find a stallion of color, specifically pinto, that jumps with nice form and moves at least an 8. Keep in mind I have yet to factor in suitability when it comes to conformation, temperament, etc … But by performance alone, Claim to Fame and Palladio are the only two that i’ve liked following Utah.

Any suggestions that are far from the typical Sempatico and Art Deco suggestions? I do love these two horses, but tend to want something with more scope.[/QUOTE]

Sandstorm and Tricolore were standing in Canada and I can never keep straight which one has been gelded. They are both full brothers to my mare’s dam -solid jumping lines. When you get Samber himself, you can get decent jump.

Spectrum didn’t always throw color (I have a grey daughter) but they do jump nice enough for the 1.20s and are ammie safe.

I don’t know whether Caroline Philips plans to ship straws from Tonto Darco UK to North America. He may be an option and I can attest that Darco x Samber will jump.

We have recently imported a Black and White Barock Pinto stallion who is quite unique. He is very athletic and chosen because he would compliment a variety of mares. His Sire is a successful jumper and dam line excels in dressage. You can fine more information on his website and facebook pages.

I’ve always liked Pallido Blu … anyone worried about the height? He is advertised as 16hh which makes me worried he’s really 15.3-ish. My mare has had good sized babies but she herself is just 16.1.

I thought he sticked at 16h at his inspection? The thought was he might gain some height as he was 4 or 5 at the time IIRC.

His owner is easy to work with and I’ve chatted with several people who’ve had foals by him. If it’s something you’re worried about, I’d ask the questions you need to in order to ease your mind. Mine won’t even start cooking until next year, so I’m no help at the moment.

Hopefully, you will get him approved with an studbook recognized in the USA. Have you contacted RPSI or any others?

ETA: Never mind, guess since you are trying to develop the Barock breed in NA there won’t be any other options for mare owners for full paper foals.

Sandstorm was gelded after he left Alberta to come to BC [Canada] Tricolore had a trailer accident on his way to CSHA testing and I believe he also was gelded. Both some years ago. Unfortunately Tricolore was only licensed with CSHA but never did any approvals.
Both these 2 horses were only heterozygous for tobiano so 50% color on the foals(well statistically anyway!)

I have not had a Palladio Blu foal, bred last year with frozen, 2 tries, not conceptus the first time, 2nd time conceived but didn’t grow. Mare caught first time this year and is carrying a foal by Diamond Stud.
I would only use Lido on a big mare, tall and with substance…one I tried is 16.3hh and growing! However Lido IS 70 day tested which is a big plus.
He is also homozygous for tobiano so one does get color for sure.

Wanted to add…I ‘sort of’ gave up fining quality 70 day tested tobiano stallions in North America or Europe. Very limited here and most of the ones in Europe are not frozen for North America as it is a long quaratine and costs quite a bit more I am told.
Currently I have 3 Sempatico M daughters 2 of whom are homozygous for the tobiano gene. I breed to Dreamscape Farms stallions…[they are 45 minutes from me]…and all tested and approved for breeding. With mare who is heterozygous, pray for color, however the foals will be lovely regardless of color!

Here are the links to the two ATA fully approved colored trakehner stallions, one tobiano and one looks splash.

Fernando is a colored stud, by Kannan out of a Samber mare. He’s young and hasn’t done much but I went to the stud to check out a different stallion and he jumps nice!! Not sure if they ship across the pond though.

Hirtentanz can throw some wild markings (sire of Picasso) and is available I think frozen.

There’s another pinto pallido son in Alberta, precipitation. He’s homozygous pinto, and I think also homozygous black. He has offspring competing at spruce meadows I think up to the 1.20M’s, I could be wrong on the height though.

Looks like he is a full brother of Pallido Blu CF. Do you know if he has been performance tested?

There are more doses of Chess M available for the USA.

Go look on the fresh frozen and ISO Warmblood breedings for sale Facebook group.

I would definitely go with either Pallido Blu or Precipitation, if both of their dams are Rainfall by Rainbow. Rainbow was an amazing stallion with fabulous movement, jump, temperament and substance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TlB0dsU2Ho This video doesn’t even do him justice, I couldn’t find the one where he is moving free and looks even more fantastic. f I remember correctly, Rainbow was approved for 7 different warmblood registries in Europe, long before colored horses were looked on in favor. I bred my hot Art Deco/TB to a son of Rainbow (Radiant who was out of a canadian draft mare) and got an incredible colt that was the whole package, conformation, movement, power, and a good brain. He could’ve been a top jumper or dressage horse, unfortunately, he was injured so never fulfulled his promise, but I always wanted to breed my mare back to the Rainbow bloodline. Palladio puts a great brain on his babies, and lots of spring, and athletic ability, too. I owned a homozygous Palladio son but about the time he was old enough, I decided I didn’t want to breed anymore and sold him. He is now a 4th level horse with an amateur owner.

No Shelia…Precipitation has not been approved. It seems owner is not interested in doing any kind of approvals.

Goshka Ringo is not frozen for North America.
