I saw in the comments on Joy’s Facebook (she runs Rocking R Rescue) that the woman who starved and tortured Asombro has her court date in August. I don’t understand who would sell her another horse.

One woman went off on how he shouldn’t have been sent home with the man who sold him to the woman who abused him… he should have just kept Asombro and this wouldn’t have happened. Like people don’t sell foals all the time? Then I saw another that said it’s not fair for him to be alone in his field, he should go somewhere he has a herd. He has horses in the field next to him. They’re waiting until he’s gelded to integrate him with other horses. People need to mind their business. He’s doing great.

OMG I just read through this thread. This horse was somewhere outside of Montevallo/ Calera when the breeder had him. He advertised the colt on FB ( I think after he was weaned) for $100/$200? He had pictures of both parents on FB and they were nice looking horses. I got the impression he was maybe at the place that did Paso Fino rescue in Columbiana ( I forget the name) because the breeder was helping with that rescue after the tornado hit and the owner was in bad shape. It sounded like an oops foal but the colt looked to be in good shape. I thought that maybe I should go look at the foal because it was cheap, looked like it had good genetics, I had an interest in Spanish horses and it would not be a long drive. But I decided against it because I needed a foal like a hole in my head. I wish I had gone to look at him. I do feed my horses here.
I am so sorry the poor thing went to that person. I guess she was interested because he was so cheap. Maybe if the breeder had put a more realistic price on the foal she would not have bought it. I am not blaming him. I suppose he was desperate and had to get it gone because he might not have had a place to keep it. I hope she goes to jail but animal cruelty cases around here and not taken very seriously.
And I will give a shout out to Coosa Valley. They are my vets and are great!
