Columbus area - tall boot alterations!

For anyone in the Columbus area and surrounding (Delaware, Sunbury, Johnstown, New Albany, etc. etc.) does anyone know of a good place to get tall boots altered?

I have a pair of super nice Rectiligne Maryland’s that I love, but I bought them and then lost a ton of weight. Now they are loose to the point where I’m swimming in them, and the ankles don’t crease. They are zip-ups.

I like them so much that I’d rather see if I can get them altered than buy a new pair of tall boots, so does anyone have recommendations for me? I’m hoping it would also be cheaper for alterations rather than a new pair. I’d appreciate it

I know this isn’t exactly columbus area  But Amish Country is GREAT to do boot alterations. They stretched mine out and I’m going to have them put zippers in. Cannot stress enough what a wonderful job they do and cheap too

Xenia is a little farther, but Xenia Shoe Repair does great work on tall boots. I know a dozen or so people who have had them work on their boots.

You’d have to call and see if they’d work on your particular boots, and you’d have to mail the boots to them… but I’d recommend Vogel. They’ve been absolutely fantastic with everything I’ve ever sent them. Their number is 212-925-2460.

Here’s their price list for alterations/repairs:

I made the mistake of going to a “regular” cobbler to have the zippers in my tall boots replaced a few years ago. This person even came recommended to me by a very good trainer- but riding boot zippers were apparently not their thing, because they look pretty horrible. Even if you decide not to go with Vogel, I’d caution against having the non-horsey mess with your boots.

My grandparents actually live in Yellowsprings, so that would be great to see them and get my boots done.

Would you have their number by chance?

I know this is not in the Columbus area, but I had a similar problem. Found a review about this guy who specializes in boot alterations. Send in a pair and he did a FANTASTIC job at altering my tall boots and taking them in. If I could post a picture I would, but you can also see some of his work here: bootalterations.com
