It’s Saturday obviously and their offices/phone line are closed, so I can’t ask my question there. For anyone with experience with this product: I’m wanting to take my mare off their pellet wormer. Can I just stop giving it to her or do I need to wean her off of it?
You just stop it. Sub therapeutic dosing will contribute to resistance.
Be sure to run a fecal to see where you are and treat for bots and tapes, as those aren’t covered by a daily dewormer.
A FEC won’t show you bots or tapeworms though, unless the horse is so loaded with tapes that you see a few eggs. You’ll never see bot eggs in manure, no matter how many larva are in the horse.
Given the time of year, I’d just hit the horse with Equimax to take care of those, and then do a FEC in 12 weeks
And yes, definitely don’t wean - full dose, or nothing.
