I have ridden in the Solstice since 2002 and still riding in it now.
I have a 32cm (wide in their brand). I have a SUPER SHORT backed arab, wide like a barrel. Rode him, pleasure, dressage, on cows, and in endurance all in the same saddle.
I have a coming 5 yr Rocky Mt horse and she is now wearing the same saddle. She is very flat in her withers, round, bit longer in the back. I wear no breast collar with her. I ride trail, and dressage with it.
I have the 18", wish I could have had a 17.5 to 17.75 but I use a black sheepskin to snug it up a bit. Super comfy saddle. It doesn’t ride huge if I don’t have the sheepskin on it.
The rocky I sit at all times, that is her gait. IOW I do not post ever, there is no bounce/movement to post to. My arab I posted lots, and also sat since he is not gaited. Very conducive to trotting and sitting to the trot, and sitting to the movement of my gaited horse. Spooks to the left or right, you are on the horse secure in the saddle, so you do not come off.
Very secure seat. It really puts you on the horse, nice and comfy. You can have it flocked also for the perfect fit. My saddle is black smooth leather and is still in very good condition. Has a big channel underneath for air circulation, and wide panels underneath to spread the weight of the rider nicely on the horses back.
With the flat withered Rocky Mt horse, I do not use a breast collar on her. I have ridden some really hilly places, the saddle just doesn’t slip. My arab I did due to the speed I was going, and the terrain.
It is just fine to take dressage lessons in. Show in it too.
I bought my saddle from Bev.
