Competing as a non member

I am a hunter rider, but I am going to my first ever (and quite possibly my last) recognized event this weekend. I will be competing beginner novice. I have a USEF and a USHJA membership. I am a bit unclear regarding the rules about non members, it kinda makes it sound like I can compete BN without a membership?

If it’s a USEA-recognized event, you are required to be a USEA member to ride at Beginner Novice. Non-members can only compete in recognized events at Starter. Now if what you’re actually doing is, say, an unrecognized CT division at a recognized horse trial, that wouldn’t apply. Otherwise if the event is this weekend I doubt your entry has been accepted without a USEA number?

They’ll accept it and then remind you when you go to pick up your packet. I forgot to renew mine one year and that’s all that happened.
