Anyone have any babies by him and/or information on how he is as a sire? Also, any info on semen (frozen) quality?

Pedigree is here: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/con+air He’s by Contender out of Fair Lady IX. He was ridden by Otto Becker in Europe, won quite a few GPs then sold to Jose Larocca who rode him in WEG where he had a clear round in Kentucky and will be riding him in the PamAm games in Mexico.

Top competitor , top sire given the right mare. He needs a big framed mare with long legs and enough blood under the rider.

I’ve seen several foals out of medium sized mares and they were too small. The best foals were from the bigger mares.

Don’t know how his semen is.

We have a 7 year old Con Air mare. She is large (probably 17 hands). Don’t know anything about semen or foals. Our mare is scopey and tries hard but doesn’t have the best front end technique. I hate to say anything negative about her since she is very sweet and has the biggest heart ever.

Her mother was a small mare and there are larger horses in the back of her pedigree which is probably where the size comes through. The Con Airs that I have seen under saddle were all normal size.

Wanted to add that Con Air has the best mind out of any stallion out there. He was also very easy and a pleasure to ride (as is our mare) He was so quiet that you could handle him in a halter at shows when he was 6. I can’t say that for any other stallion at the time

Contender / Carolus / Landgraf / Calvados…this is where the great mind comes from.

From speaking with the breeders and witnessing many mare foal combinations , he makes normal size offspring given a big enough mare.

Catoo is a son of Conair. His mother is grandmother to Canto as well. I saw some spectacular Catoo foals born in Holstein this year.

Can you be more specific about what you consider a medium sized mare vs a big framed mare and what you consider too small in a foal?

There is an approved son of Con Air in CA. His name is Chevalier. He is a really good dressage horse. Anke Magnussen imported and has since sold him. I have a coming three year old by him that is probably the best foal I’ve ever produced. Her dam is a 50 bonit Camiros/Marlon daughter. You can see the Chevalier filly here:

Hola, muchas gracias por la ponderación de la sangre de mis potros!! Mi mail es drgzegna@hotmail.com con gusto seguimos en contacto por esa vía.
Estoy criando en Rosario y haciendo recría en Entre Rios. Castor Cooper tiene una sangre excelente, Chester Z da muy bien, tuve algunas demoras para poder inscribir las potras Chester que tengo.
Con Air tiene a su favor la campaña internacional, da muy bien también y el semen es buenísimo. Con toda humildad opino que tiene una relación costo/calidad incrible. Tengo guardad una dosis y media en el banco de semen y la semana pasada compré otra.
También estoy criando con un socio chileno, pero ahí la calidad de animales que tenemos es aún superior. Nos acaba de parir una madre que es Berlin x Diamant de Semilly x Landgraf, una protranca Numero Uno, preciosa. y LLegó la semana pasada de Holanda una yegua de 3 años que es Berlin x Corrado I x Lord, hermana de madre de Untouchable M y está preñada por Baloubet du Rouet!!!
