Conditioning hair sprays without build up

Infusium is basically 1/3 each water, conditioner and a silicone spray like show sheen or laser sheen. I mix my own all the time.

I use Argan Oil from OBX - pricey, but it conditions without being goopy and really helps with breakage. I use it on mane/tail/forelock with great results.

I think I have tried close to everything out there, including the ones listed in the posts.

i think I have found the holy grail in Equifuse!

After using the shampoo, conditioner and gleem, you can make a daily spray of Gleem and the rehydrarinse.

I really think it depends on the type of Mane/tail hair your horse has. What works for some doenst work for others.

My trimmer has been raving about Mane-ly Long Hair products: https://manelylonghair.com

Effol Super Star Shine

I used to use Show Sheen in tails as a detangler but I gave away an almost brand new bottle of Show Sheen when I discovered this stuff. It conditions AND detangles tails and forelocks very well, with no residue or buildup. Additionally, I have been able to brush it into their coats for added shine/ dust removal at horse shows, and it does not make their hair slippery like Show Sheen does, so all your tack will still stay put, and your horse looks beautiful and shiny.

I have a small sample of this and it is quite nice. Very light, no residue. When it’s used up, I’m going to try the Mane-ly Long Hair Detangler.

I just grabbed a bottle of this a few weeks ago and really like the conditioning results. I bought it for the sunscreen properties but hair and coat quality have improved significantly. Like it better than Equifuse and Infusium. Who knew?

I second the Canter Mane and Tail recommendation.

Also, I’ve been giving my horse 1/2 cup of Omega Horseshine and 1 scoop of Biotin Plus (both from SmartPak site) and I swear these have done crazy wonders for her tail, coat and feet - way more than conditioning products, in my opinion.

My barn is currently fond of ORS Olive Oil Spray (on Amazon). It’s targeted towards humans and in addition to being a good conditioner, it’s apparently better than tanning oil (?) and it also combats buffalo gnats, so… there’s that. It does smell nice though and it’s light weight.

I’ve recently used this and loved it. Now, caveat, I’ve never given it a go on a heavily matted, “been awhile” tail… but for daily use . It doesn’t have the “cones” so you don’t see the hair getting more brittle over time, and it’s way lighter than HHC or even the Eqyss. And it smells heavenly!
