Confidence EQ Equine Appeasing Pheromone Gel?

Anyone use this?

Looking for some help in reducing under-saddle anxiety. My 10 year old gelding is fine up until about 20 minutes and then starts to grind. I’m 98% certain it’s anticipation related to the canter. He will ‘re-set’ and stop grinding but it takes a minute. I’d like to chill him out a bit so he doesn’t get so nervous. I mean, maybe it’s focus but I don’t think so. We are also not doing anything new. To be fair, he started grinding at 6, we spent 3 years peeling back the onion to find any physical condition which I then worked to resolve, and we’ve had long periods of time in work without any grinding. We’ve just come back from my illness and a month off, so he may be re-living earlier re-starts. Just getting ready to add canter back in.

(No, horse is not in pain. I have used every single diagnostic tool available, scoped for ulcers (none), regular massage (weekly). X-rayed, ultrasound-ed, explored all muscles, bones, tendons, feet. Horse is physically able to do everything.)

Certainly can’t hurt to try it. I suspect it won’t work for this issue as this sounds more training-related but you might as well try and see.

I’ve used it before with good results, but like @Feathered_Feet i’m not sure it would work for an issue like this.

I have a horse that after a trailer accident went from being an easy loader to saying absolutely not to a trailer. I spent a long time re-training her to load and used Confidence EQ during the re-training process the first time several times I trailered her again to help make it a good experience.

I have a friend who’s horse can get worked up at overnight shows. He calls out a lot and doesn’t want to eat because he’s too distracted. Confidence EQ helps settle him so he can eat and relax in the stall overnight.

I used it for under saddle rehab for one young horse who could be distracted and reactive. I think it helped him but after a while he resented having it wiped on his nose. He was far enough along at that point I stopped. This horse did have several re-starts in his life and I can’t say I felt it did much of anything for him after that first rehab. But worth a shot. No potential harm in using it other than you might get it wiped off on your clothes.
