Congrats to Vicky and Hyperion Stud again

on their States Premium Casall / Carthago mare winning the 5yr old class in Del Mar.

This mare has now won 4 or 5 Five year old classes in Wellington and Cali. and has even more top 5 finishes. She has to be one of the best 5 yr old mares in the country ! Can’t wait to see her rock in the 6 yr olds this winter back in Wellington.

I reluctantly (hard for me to part with her) sold Vicky this mare as a 3 yr old but couldn’t be more proud of the way she has been made up and promoted. Vicky and her Hyperion Team do it first class !

Bayhawk - you have got to be so proud of your breeding program!! And finding a client that does such an awesome job of promoting one of your “kids” is what dreams are made of.

You lucky dog!

Congrats Reece - that is wonderful!

Thanks Siegi but I can’t take credit for breeding her. I have known her since she was born and purschased her as a young horse.

I wanted so much to keep her and breed with her but she is obviously in the right hands.

Whether you actually breed them or broker them , it makes it all worth it when you find them an owner that will give them the opportunities to do what they’re bred to do.

Congrats Vicki, and Reece. What a great mare. I remember her as a foal, and have really enjoyed her progress. Awesome.

Tim

Congrats to all involved - sounds like a wonderful mare!

Can someone explain the the age classes for jumpers? Are these USEF divisions, or USHJA, or what? Are they the jumper counterpart to the FEI Y/H dressage classes?

Ditto this! Congrats to all involved.:D:yes:

Congratulations to all of her connections, it’s certainly something to be proud of. I’m eagerly saving my pennies for that perfect Holsteiner filly of my own to campaign someday.

Very nice mare. Congratulations!

Fantastic! Big congrats.

Any video or pictures?

These classes are YJC classes at “A” rated jumper shows. I don’t know much about the dressage young horse classes, but could be?

Thank You Reece for the acknowledgment! Love this mare! Can’t wait for the next one!

Cheers

There are two separate programs.

USEF offers 5, 6 and 7/8 year old jumper classes. In order to earn points the horse must be recorded with USEF ( Horse ID only earn no points and no credit towards awards). The specs for these classes are covered in great detail in the USEF rule book. Jumper shows are no longer rated AA A B C. Instead they are rated 1-6. USHJA’s website has a lot of detail explaining the different jumper show ratings. There is no requirement that USEF young jumper classes be run at any specific USEF ratings level. In addition, the horse needs to provide proof of age to USEF.

The Young Jumper Program is a separate entitity. But they use the same age split plus a 4 year old program.

In order to participate in the bonus pool the sire must be a Young Jumper recorded stallion ( similar to IHF). And the horse competing needs to pay a nomination fee.
This program sanctions shows/classes that count as qualifiers and there is no requirement that the show be a USEF 5 or 6 rated Jumper show.

There are regional finals. In the East, the regionals are at the Hampton Classic Show on Long Island.

This program has had a lot of success with it’s ‘graduates’ going on to GP competition.

Welcome ! Great job. Can’t wait to see her in Wellington with another year of experience under her belt.

That’s awesome! Congrats to all involved. It will be exciting to watch her progress.

Yup…this is the one.

Congrats! Is this horse registered with the Young Jumper program? I looked to see if it was listed in the YJC database or the list of the horses that qualified for the finals, but didn’t find it.

With those kinds of results the owners should register and take advantage of the program! Lots of great prize money and exposure

Congratulations, Vicky! It could not happen to a nicer and more deserving person!

She is not registered with YJC. Reason is that the YJC program in itself does not fall in line with our program for developing this type. We are not out for points, championships or money. Our program uses YJC classes, when built appropriately, to gain positive experience. Makes no difference if she qualifies for a final, especially when the YJC division/finals has shown to build courses well out of the scope of what we feel is appropriate.

No diss against YJC, we can just do it better. Horses like Zita, Qlipper, Imothep and others we have worked with Have benefited in our decisions to put them in classes that benefit their growth and development no matter the label.

Thank you for taking the time to check on her…we are very proud of her and what we have been able to put together for her in her US career so far.

Cheers!

Congrats again! I love to watch the development of a great horse

Having so many youngsters myself, I’m always interested in seeing how other farms put their programs together.
