I have taken notice of this guy too.
Indy-lou, do you know anything about him? I’ve watched his videos quite a few times and like him more and more.
I know he did well in the PAVO cup and in his licensing with the KWPN and that he has multiple European approvals. A breeder friend in Belgium said he was the best horse presented to their approvals. You’ve got to take notice when a stallion achieves top scores in any registry, and is also approved in many others.

He is lovely – who is Con Amour by? Not blown away with his rider, though.
PennyG
Connaisseur is by Con Amore (Conteur/Pik Bube/Wendekreis) out of a Donnerhall mare.
Here is his owner’s website:

I believe Dr Samper has his frozen available for US and Canada
He is owned by Sara Pocock, an amateur dressage rider from Vancouver, BC. She loves to chat about him, so I wouldn’t hesistate to get in touch with her. I believe she said the plan was to leave him in Europe for now with Emmelie Scholtens and aim him at the World Young Horse Championships this year. I really, really like the looks of the this stallion. However, I found his stud fee very high for such a young and unproven stallion and frozen semen as well. I inquired about discounts for premium/elite mares and was told that no discounts were being offered. (This was for a SPS Weltmeyer/Rubenstein mare than had produced multiple SPS and premium offspring as well as champions under saddle, so not a slouch of a mare!)
What is the fee for the frozen? I inquired early on and they hadn’t set the price yet.
I went to Langley, BC in December and he is the sweetest boy!! Such a love and very respectful! He is a brilliant mover with tons of natural suspension and really covers the ground. I will be breeding my mare to him ASAP.
Even though this thread is old, I’m glad it was bumped up. What a lovely horse.
Does anyone here have any foals arriving this year? Found some photos of some babies on his facebook - looks like they have lots of quality. Would he be described as fairly modern/leggy? Love seeing a little bit of that jumping blood in there…curious as to what kind of mare he does best with.
Bumping this up because I as well would like to know about the offspring. Does anyone have any on the ground - handleability? Movement?
No, not on the ground yet. But I’m impressed with the few I saw so far.
Can hopefully report more in April.
Bumping up again now that a few more years have gone by. People must have foals on the ground by now? The KWPN committee said he appears to do best with substantial mares with strong toplines, which would imply he is a refining type stallion. Would love to hear about the temperaments and handleability of his foals. Any under saddle yet?
A friend of mine has a foal by him. Not sure the dam’s bloodlines. Foal looks quite nice but of course still very young. He sure is a lovely stallion! Will ask her how her foal is

If you look on the Facebook page you will find an album of his offspring. There are quite a few under saddle in Europe, and I think Sarah has one of her own that is about ready to start under saddle. I’ve only ever heard excellent things about the temperament of him and his foals I think Sara has lots of pictures of her playing with hers.
I really like this stallion. His owner was kind enough to show him to me under saddle a few years ago. He really has that “look of eagles” and his temperament seemed to be very nice both in the barn and under saddle. I think the reason we don’t see more of his foals on the ground is that he isn’t very heavily promoted as a breeding stallion and his stud fee is higher than many other Canadian based warmblood stallions.
I absolutely love him and have watched him for a few years. Was actually seriously considering breeding to him to but unfortunately his studfee went up this past year and now it is more than I am willing to go at this time But he is for sure a gorgeous boy!
Keep in mind his fees are in Canadian funds. Not great for breeders here, but it reduces costs by about 30% for American breeders.
This was posted on their FB page yesterday:
Hey, American breeders!! 2016 is the year to breed to a Canadian stallion! With the Canadian dollar currently valued at 71¢ to the US dollar, you will be paying almost 30% less. This is also the first year we will be offering select discounts for mares with predicates (Elite/Premium/Ster/Keur) and mares with proven high level sport records, along with our usual multiple mare discount and repeat breeder discounts. Please inquire to see if your mare is eligible for any of the above. We also give special consideration to breeders who breed more than one mare, packages will be made to accommodate breeders with multiple bookings, using fresh or frozen semen.
In addition to the above, we will be offering a Valentine’s day special! If you book between, Feb 1st-14th we will be offering a 10% discount. Only the $300 non-refundable booking fee is due at the time of booking.
Connaisseur’s stud fee for fresh semen this year will be $2,450.00 CAD ($1,753.05 US with today’s exchange) with a LFG and first collection included. His breeding season will run from April 25th until Aug 12th and he will be available for collection Monday through Friday, with the exception of statutory holidays.
He is also available via frozen semen for $1,550.00 CAD ($1,108.84 US today) with LFG or by the dose all year round.
2016 will likely be the last year that Connaisseur is available with fresh semen for new contracts. We are planning for a heavier training and competition schedule in 2017, so we want to ensure that anyone hoping to use fresh semen gets the opportunity this year.
In 2017 he will be available via frozen semen for new contracts and with fresh semen only to fulfill LFG contracts.
