Conrad Schuhmacher Clinic...

So I just had the pleasure of auditing a Conrad Schuhmacher clinic at Wyndham Oaks, Md. and must say I am very much impressed with him. Good, good teacher with the ability to assess a situation quickly and then offer the right help and suggestions while never losing his cool.

I liked the way he organized every lesson and how he managed to zero in on issues and offer solutions. Can’t wait to see him again in February!!

Lucky you. Have audited his clinic in the past and found him everything you say. Wish he’d come back to my area again.

Yes, you are lucky!

We just participated in the Schumacher clinic here in North Carolina( prior to his MD trip). Conrad is a super clinician to audit and to ride for.

Don Principe has made significant progress each time he has been before Conrad. Jim and Prince started riding with Conrad in early 2007 at a clinic Jen Baumert hosted in Florida. We have since followed him(Conrad) to MD,FL and NC each time we can.

Herr Schumacher has now done a DVD about his training philosophy. I forgot to purchase it, but the clinic organizer should be able to get that for anyone interested.

Worth going out of your way to plan to audit!

I audited him for the first time in Alpharetta GA (near Atlanta) last week and it was amazing! He transformed every horse and explained it all so clearly to the auditors so you could really follow what was going on and apply it to your own riding. I went home and had the best ride ever on my horse after watching him. I would encourage anyone to ride/audit with him. Definitely want the training DVD!

He was also very well received in MA at Cutler Farm, Medfield.

I love Conrad too. Liz, my rider/trainer, has worked with Conrad for 10+ years and trained with him in Germany. She truely is a Conrad disciple. Conrad has been instrumental in the stellar FEI High Performance year (as well as Sue Blinks) my Donna Novella and Liz had this year. As he said last year to the audience up at Lilo’s last fall - ’ look closely - this is everything you could ever want in an FEI horse’! Luckily Conrad comes 3-4 times a year to Northern California (to Lilo Fore’s and a couple other barns). We always go if we can.

Golden Oak dressage is sponsoring a Conrad Schumacher Symposium in 2 weeks in the SF area. www.conradschumacher.com

This will be a very interesting symposium as it is also featuring “eventing dressage” and “dressage” for western horses - in addition to a full 2 days of Conrad’s training system from 3yo to GP. Something for everyone!

We will be taking our superstar 3yo for Liz to ride with Conrad in the symposium and the 2 days of lessons before- we can’t wait to get his impression of our new guy.

You’re just now discovering CS, he is not just good, he’s fantastic! The man is a genius, having audited him and talked with him a lot in conjunction with the YR clinics out my way.

I’m going to see him at Tempel Farm in 3 weeks. I saw him on a tape my trainer lent me. I can’t wait.

My trainer has ridden with CS for years and usually rides with him when he is in Georgia, but missed the last one in Alpharetta. I don’t know if she is going to the one in November. She wanted to take my 5 y/o, but he has Regional Championships next weekend, then a Y/H clinic/symposium with Scott Hassler the following weekend. The CS clinic at Poplar Place is only three days after the Y/H clinic and it is just too much for a 5 y/o. Maybe next year…

Buy the 1999 Dressage Synposium tapes with Conrad Schumacher…worth every penny. He’s working with riders such as Courtney King and Chris Hickey (back in their YR days). He is very methodical in his approach and you’ll learn exercises to address certain issues.

dalpal - Thanks for the info!

Wannabe, do you have details on the Tempel Farms clinic? It’s not close, but I think he’s great. I have the whole 99 training symposium recorded on my DVR and hubby keeps threatening to erase it. Over my dead body!

A candidate for USEF coach/chef?

Wow, that would be nice wouldn’t it.

Would someone PM me the contact information for Conrad? How do you get him to come give a clinic? We in MI would LOVE it! I met him at the USDF convention in 2001 and he was not only educational but also funny as heck!

As far as getting him to come do new locations, I don’t know if he can. If you email me, I can pass on your request to Jen and have her pass it on. He has commitments to certain people for several years now. There are wait lists for his clinics. we originally got in one due to a scratch of one of his regular riders.

On the other hand, what a great suggestion for the Team coach!! Someone ought to bring it up at the USEF meeting.

CS is coming to a location near me this week (a lot of folks from my barn are going) but I won’t be there. Hope he returns another year - I would love to audit!

LOL, I have it tivo’d too. It’s the only thing I’ve never deleted. I really liked that series as well, and I have audited him (my trainer has ridden with him). He is great. Wish he would come back to CO…
