Contract for Trial

Hi everyone,

My horse is for sale and going on a trial for 2 weeks. While I do trust these people, I would feel better if there was some sort of contract drawn up. I want it to include the purchase price, that they would be liable if the horse gets hurt, etc. Would anyone have a copy of one laying around that they could send me? This would be taking place in Ontario Canada. It would also be a bonus if someone had a transfer of ownership papers as well.

Much appreciated!

Definitely have a contract before sending the horse off. I did this over 15 years ago, so I no longer have a copy laying around, but think I found it on the internet. Contract included a 25% refundable deposit, and payment required in full if horse was injured requiring vet attention. I only did a trial for a week, and my horse did get hurt. She stepped on a nail on the 5th day in turnout and the Buyer called me right away. The Buyer was an attorney, fully transparent, and paid me in full later that same day. She said she was going to buy my horse anyway, but the injury sealed the deal legally. Horse did recover as the nail was fairly small and vet said it didn’t penetrate the hoof capsule (fortunately)!!

Start with Google and see what you find. I’m assuming laws are subtly different in Canada.
