Coolest half chaps?

I normally ride in paddock boots, breeches and half chaps. My normal half chaps are full leather that look like a tall boot. I generally like them for lessons, schooling shows etc… since they look like a tall boot. However, I frequently trail ride for a few hours. It has been really hot and humid here recently and my calves have been sweating.

I am thinking it is time to order a pair for trail riding only. What are your favorite summer half chap?

Moxie! Someone on this forum recommended them and they are great.

Just chaps are suppose to be really nice and cool.

Or the Ariat terrain half chaps, both are mesh designs

I second the Ariat Terrain Half Chaps! Mine lasted over ten years too and I even used them when I switched to jumping from endurance. They are so comfy with the matching boots too.

I have a pair of Dublin Easy Care that aren’t too stuffy (and cheap). I want a pair of Just Chaps next tho to get blue

I’ve got a pair of Dublin washable suede that I’ve had for ever.

I am going to have to try those mesh Just Chaps. They have to be cool with that much air flow.

Try Prochaps!

Have you heard of ProChaps? We assist equestrians in gaining a closer connection with their horse. We do this by guaranteeing that with three or two (depending on product) simple measurements, we can provide you with a half or full chap that acts like a second skin due to it’s compression like materials (aiprene and water proof leather). A second skin that is durable for upwards of 3 years no matter what level rider you are.

Prochaps are also super ventilated - We developed a solution that fits anthropomorphic characteristics of a rider and resists to pressure points while riding. It has a memory that retains the original shape over time. It consists of a combination of hybrid multi directional materials that are breathable, flexible and water repellent. Our chaps are machine washable. All products are ventilated by hundreds of perforations. Weight is reduced by 50%. It offers full protection of the riders leg. It is like a second skin. Our mission is to offer a product that meets needs of today’s riders.

Check us out

I try not to wear half chaps in the summer. I got an endurance sheepskin cover for my saddle so I’m not really prone to chafing. Then I wear a lot of my Lululemon tights that have mesh on the lower leg

I wish I could do that but I also jump XC so need that extra grip in the calf. I also seem to get pinched by the stirrup leathers. I also ride in full seat breeches so that ups the warmth factor.
