So brief background, last week a friend and I were out hacking and jumped into our back pasture over a timber fence and went to jump out over a recently built coop. My normally good jumper propped two strides out and jumped very reluctantly, as we landed, a fox that had been laying on the path, took off in front of us and ran out into the field. Last night my BF does the same thing and on the approach to the coop, he thinks he sees a groundhog run aross the path on the landing side. So his horse, also normally a brave jumper, stops, gives the coop a major rap and finally scrambles over. As they land, out from both ends of the coop, come an entire fox family !!! What he thought was a groundhog was actually a fox and the rest of the family obviously thought their roof was falling in on them ! Cozy, dry, and conviently located - has anyone else found critters under coops ?
Bunnies!
Bees.
I’ll trade y’all!
You’re going back for pix, right? Pretty please?
I saw a red two seasons back shoot out of a wood and race across open ground to take new cover under a set of coops while hounds went the otherway…
Oh is that what they’re called “coops?” I thought they were fox houses! he he
