Coreene and Taryn's Excellent Adventure: The Oaks CSI

We are THRILLED! One of my clients called the other day and said “I am sending you two VIP tickets at our table for the Sunday CSI at The Oaks. Be sure to come early for lunch.”

Then she said she might have two more come spare, so if that’s the case I will find two more utterly deserving compatriots to go along with us and/or meet us there.

Taryn and I are having a big whoo-hoo right now. Photos next Monday!

So we WILL officially be there - who else will? Let’s get a group shot to post as well.

I am only going on Sunday for the CSI. So make sure that the Saturday group gets a photo, too!

Oh, if you have extra tix, I’ll bring the digital camera!!!

(Chef can vouch for my worthiness - I cleaned her horse, tack and tackroom last week! HA!)

Oh I am too excited. I had read this thread yesterday and was really feeling sorry for myself, since I did not know how I could pull off a trip to the Oaks.

Then as if by magic a friend calls this am and informs me she has a motel room for Saturday and what seems to be VIP seats for the show and did I want to go? HELLO…am I there yet???

Now all I have to do is arrange caretaking for my dog and somewhat ailing kitty, and get someone to “hose” Bud in the late pm because it is too bloody hot! Husband will be out of town until Sunday PM anyway, so how could it get any better???

So where is the coordinating “rendevouz” point for us BB’ers? Chef are you going to make it after all? I will have to decide what “cactus-ey” something to wear. Hmmmm.

You can’t tell I’m the least bit bored here in the desert can you? Don’t get out enough?

“The older I get, the better I used to be.”

BTW, Cactuskate, everyone knows that we don’t have four seasons in Arizona (what are spring and fall? ), though you are sure right about hell

I don’t know if Denise is going to school him first or if it will be all Rach.
Rach had a great lesson on him last night.
Of course I imagine Hoopoe and the LWSC crew are praying that I do not set foot on the showgrounds Sunday, as the last show it did not start raining until I got out of the truck, haha

I thought that was just between us. And now that you let the cat out of the bag, I’ll admit to the world that it wasn’t the first time she has done all of the above. In my defense I have oiled your new saddle (and even rode in it - once.)

Kate, I’m trying to find out where the concessions are. Then we can meet there.

Silly akrogirl, Spring is April 3rd and Fall is the day before Thanksgiving. Maybe you were just out of town both of those days. Spring and Fall are very “short” seasons you know. But HELL, now IT seems to go on forever. Is it just me or is it waayy to early for this blasted humidity???

Well, with Justice once again safely ensconced in his stall at the farm, and the huge pile of to-dos that awaited me at work finally ta-done, I am happy to finally report that Justice was a Very Good Boy at the Oaks. He still does not have those elusive flying changes pinned down, but when he manages to go around without blowing a change or trotting in mid-course, he is consistently in the top five - he even won one of his Young Hunter rounds!

And they say there’s no Justice in this world. . .

I even got to meet AA jumper - but I was so freaked out between trying to listen to the trainer, watch the horse, and video them, that I was a little spacey. It was sure good to hear a friendly voice though!

I love the Oaks and it was a really good show. It was a lot of fun to see some of their babies doing the hunters - they are amazing. Fun, Fun, Fun. Now I am Poor, Poor, Poor.

Have fun at the CSI Sunday - Driving out there twice in one week is enough for me!

Sure wish I could be there, but in my absence, have a GREAT time, and of course get some pics of the clique get together!!!

I’m showing Wed-Fri…I leave with Miss Cypress tomorrow at noon. My trainer and I are planning on staying through the weekend to watch the International events. I’m staying in a camper ( a Prowler I think) and my truck is a 1986 Ford F250, eggshell white w/a maroon stripe and a shell on the back. If anyone is around early, stop by!

Oh, I just got an email from Suave…is anyone planning on going on Saturday? It would be fun to meet before or after the 3pm Speed Derby. I’m seriously thinking of packing my blender and I happen to have a GIANT bottle of strawberry margarita mix and a Costco sized bottle of tequila. Anyone up for a pre-Derby margarita???

Excellent choice of rendevouz point

My parents love Arizona, but they spend the summers golfing up here and the winters golfing down there.
They tend to leave earlier and earlier each fall though, and stay longer and longer.
I guess they have earned the best of both worlds.

Someday I will have to go visit this beautiful state of Arizona they rave about.
But NOT in the summer!!! hahaha

Yep, Justice and I met…I even got to see the real Justice go around twice! I was standing at the gate waiting for my trainer to do her round, and I saw Justice’s trainer walk up on a chestnut. I was thinking, “hmmm…could he be on Justice???” Sure enough, he went in the ring right after my trainer did her round, and they announced that he was riding Justice! So I looked around to see who might be the owner, and spotted someone videotaping. I figured that she MUST be Justice…sure enough, I was right! I would have stayed longer but I had to run over to jumper land and walk my course! And the real Justice is just as fabulous in person as he is in his pictures!!!

I, too, love The Oaks. I wish I could go there for every show! I love galloping around on the big grass fields. The big jumper ring there is a blast. And the weather is perfect!!!

Wow, lucky you I plan on being there with my husband and one or two horsey friends We have reserved our tickets (GA, I’m afraid) and rental car so, hopefully, we will be able to make it out there okay. I would love to meet you both, if you are willing to associate with the peons

You can get Tequila at Costco?

Just let us know the time

We didn’t want it anymore, so we sent it to you.

I hope Elliot is good for ya, Bumpkin. I’m headed to Ride America with the Hambola Virus. I’m supposed to run into (not literally, I hope) Suave Reno.

By the way, just heard that Justice won a round of either Young or Schooling Hunters yesterday at the Oaks! Whoopee!
