Sick with fear for those good boys and all other creatures, human or animal.
It was just shared that they are on transport out right now. A fretful trip I’m sure. Hoping for safe travels and will breathe a big sigh when I hear they’ve made it.
Wow! Glad they are out. What a terrible situation for human and equine alike.
I don’t think they are out yet, the article I read said they were at the border, so almost out. But so many others are at risk, I read that some owners are setting their horses free in hopes of saving their lives.
I want to donate but it seems so complicated at the moment. I hope someone in the US will set up something that makes it easier.
I hope they are able to cross the border safely and in good health. People have been waiting for days. Not ideal for horses on a truck.
Apparently they made it out! https://breedingnews.com/cornet-obolensky-and-comme-il-faut-have-just-crossed-the-ukraine-polish-border/
So glad to hear that, thanks for posting that report. So many others still at risk, I feel guilty worrying about the animals when so many people are also in such dire circumstances.
I don’t think you should feel guilty…I think it’s very kind. I really feel for the people who are trying to take care of them, too. Actually I feel for all of the Ukraine and everyone who is trying to help. It’s just awful.
Horses have always been very valued and protected in war and unrest. Their lineage is still very important to the world. I have read about Thoroughbred stud books being better protected than human ancestry records in times like these.
So glad they got out. How absolutely terrifying that must have all been
Many people have been “booking” Ukrainian AirBnBs (obviously with no intention of going to stay there) as a fast/uncomplicated way to get money to people the people there.
What a good idea. My firm has selected three organizations for us to donate to, and they will match our donations up to $1,500 per employee! We have offices all over the world, including Moscow, so that’s a very generous commitment on their part.
You can also make purchases through Etsy
Here is a link that directly helps equines in Ukraine.
This organization is also on Facebook.
You can buy grain/ hay and have it delivered to specific spots in Ukraine.
Also ways to request help or ways to help.
Definitely check out the website for the different options to help equestrians and their horses/ donkeys
I saw that link yesterday and it is not user friendly at all. It looks as though you have to do a wire transfer to donate money. And to donate food I have yet to find one that has an English version, some only work in the UK or other countries, then you have to figure out the exchange rate so you know how much you are spending in US dollars, its a mess.
Just saw this article. Bless everybody involved.
I am in the US so no EU bank account, but thanks so much for posting the link , I will make a donation to them.
Are you sure that’s legit? I went to donate and it looks as though it is an individual person and I got a text from my CC company to ask if I wanted to confirm the charge.
I thought that website looked weird too. Turns out, you can donate through the Shiteeventersunite page. I know, I know, they are not everyone’s cup of tea, but they are legit when it comes to donations and I feel confident that Worldwide Vets will get their money.

From the AAEP on Facebook:
While many residents fleeing Ukraine are trying to take their pets and animals with them, thousands of displaced horses, donkeys, burros and other animals remain behind and, like the people of Ukraine, need your help.
The Foundation for the Horse, the AAEP’s charitable arm, will be donating all disaster gifts received in March 2022 to trusted veterinary and equine organizations it identifies in Europe providing emergency relief to horses and animals in impacted areas with the capabilities to provide care on the ground.
Visit The Foundation’s Disaster Relief page to donate and learn more about how we are connecting with veterinary groups and animal charities that are supporting those in need: https://www.foundationforthehorse.org/impact/disaster-relief/
