Cornet Obolensky contributions to a Pregnancy

My question does not revolve around the quality of the semen, nor the pedigree match with a mare, nor the character match, and not the stature or body type of any mare in question.

I am wondering if anyone has an overall opinion on the overall high percentage of Cornet Obolensky foals - overall as to his contribution as to “type” of foals.

One large breeder suggests that they were surprised that their experience has been that he “Refines” and adds more “Modern type” to mares who are medium to heavier type.

Does anyone have any experience with Cornet refining and adding a more modern type in addition to height to a foal?

Thank You!

you need to specify:
do you mean FOALS or mature horses?
does “refine” in your reference mean “pretty heads” or muscular structure?

CO sure is a foal producer, typey, elegant, modern. pretty heads.
reason he had an easy start as a breeding stallion when his first crops were on the ground. by than, noone knew if they would potentially jump the way they later on proved to do. but they were eyecatching at foal age and usually move better than other jumper sire’s foals, thus, they were an easier sale than others.

however, if you look at the mature CO progeny, he is not a refiner. despite the fact that he does carry a 44% share of tb blood. he does not pass it on, unless he meets on a mare of genetic refinerey potential.
reason he initially produced a lot of heavy offspring in his early years the westfalian area, where he met on a marebase, often lacking refinery influence. yet, they jump in all shapes.

modern type (in your reference) is not equal to refinery.
modern type usually describes a horse of harmonic body structure / exterieur.
harmonic, not light.

refinery with respect to muscular structure/speedy repetition etc sure is not a CO stamp.
the usual CO offspring matures into rather massive horses of slower repeating (beat) move, big jumps, but not fast (missing the short and quick beat).
height, yes.
frame, yes.
modern type - not necessarily (except for head, maybe).

but he sure does produce “complete” horses with respect to conformation. horses of harmonic exterieur, which does add as a plus compared to other prominent jumper sires and the way they produce (stakkato, darco etc).
one might be tempted to mix that up with refinery impression, but genetically it sure isn’t.

i suppose, that is what your breeder friend meant to say?

Thank You So Much! Perfect! Appreciated!
