Cornet Obolensky, if not, Argentinus or Arko III?!

cornet obolensky

Hi there

We have used Cornet Obolensky 3 times and with no sucess and a lot of money wasted. He comes from the breeding of Clinton and Heartbreaker - both renowned for their poor quality semen and am afraid i would have say it looks like he also carries the poor quality ‘c’ line holsteiner semen.

The horse is superb and his pedigree is class. He is a lovely type. Although you would have been quids in had you got a foal - i think you have had a lucky escape as i only ended up disappointed! We used him on a mare by Argentinus x Absinth x Zeus who has had a cracking colt by Lupicor instead ( superb semen) I have a cracking 3 yr old by Cornet Obolensky x (Capitol/Lord/Contender) for sale though !!

Lordanos

Wonderful news! We used Lordanos only once and my mare is in foal to him already

Vet confirmed that his semen is of great quality and indeed sportshorse666, this could have been a lucky escape for me.

Lets see what this combination brings:

I’m very excited, fingers crossed that all goes well! I’ll keep you posted

Just Updating-
We just had a colt by Lordanos born this morning. He is a very big boy! His knees are a bit tight at the moment, but vet is coming out tomorrow to check him out.

My 2y/o is looking great, I don’t have any photos that do him justice at the moment though. I’ve done some ground work with him and he was a bit silly at first (though I think that comes from the mare), but he was a very quick learner.

He is the one on the left. The chestnut is by Landor S.

congratulations to your b-board breeding, please keep us posted!
best of luck!

Not wishing to hijack this thread ,but does anyone know of any horses by Arko III . I am planning on breeding to him this next year and usually I do not breed to stallions when I have not seen their get. I must be getting more adventurous in my old age.
I visited with his full sister and have long been a fan of this stallion but have never even heard of any of his babies. Any help would be most appreciated

Allyn, there’s pictures of one that sold here - royally bred little guy…

Have you considered Lux Z or Lupicor? Silvio wouldn’t be a bad match he is rather bulky and would add substance.

Also go look at Klatte’s webpage. They are the breeders of both Grannus and Argentinus and they have lots of good crosses to look at that would compliment your mare.

WOW!!!

Thank You Sniplover . I feel more comfortable now .

Monica is riding an Arko III son (8 yr. old) at Tim Stockdale’s . Here is a reference to a video of Tim exercising the Arko III son about 2 weeks ago.

Allyn M can I ask where you will be buying the Arko III semen from?

Long Wood stables use to carry him but I don’t see him on their website any more…hope they still do…

Thank you Sakura Hill Farm . That is also a great looking horse. The surroundings of that ring look Belgian or Dutch. Is that a ring in England. I am pretty sure that Arko III must have sired more horses before he went so actively into sport ,but I really don’t know his history.

HSGF , I purchased the semen from Jos Lansink when Arko III was in Europe for collection last spring. I made the arrangements in January when I was in Belgium for the Stallion Selections. It was shipped this summer. Most of the semen was spoken for early and I believe it was distributed in Europe.

Allyn,

This is at Tim’s in Northampton.

HSGF,

I spoke with Tracey about Arko III being available in NA. He was oversold in Europe and there was none left for NA; hence, she removed him from their website. My sense is that it is a “Stay Tuned” situation.
Monica loves this Arko III son.

Thanks Allyn M and Sakura Hill! I spoke with Tracey…let’s hope she can get some for next season.
Allyn keep me in mind if you ever want to sell a dose or two!

Thanks for the offer , HSGF, but I probably would not even consider selling any of it until I find out about the quality of the semen. I tried his sire’s and the motility reports from the vet weren’t good at all so I realized from the beginning that this was a risk.

I will be sending two mares to ET repro vet in Columbia ,MO and he will send back a full report on the quality of the semen . I will be happy to mail a copy to you if you will contact me in the spring. The mares usually go there in March or April .

That would be wonderful Allyn…Thanks!

Lordanos

Dear All, I have wonderful news! On July 4th my mare Gundi had a colt by Lordanos

He is a stunning little boy, looks nothing like his mummy – there’s no doubt he’s a little Lordanos

Thank you all very much for your great help in making a stallion choice and suggesting him!!!

Thank you again!!!

Ohhh that’s so exciting ilka_tu! He looks beautiful, quite similar to my older one!

My little ones are going great, so friendly, and both have great movement! I am getting ready to break in my 2.5yr old Lordanos colt in the coming weeks.

Even though Argentinus has not made any great sires yet (made great sport stallions, but so far no great breeding stallions), I would like to try Arko III because he is just such a special jumper and has a great mare family. There is no pricing, availability or data on the doses in America yet.

I don’t know what exactly "great sires means to you but I think Argentinus sons Air Jordan and Armitage were high quality sport horses and their prodgeny shows great promises. Arko III progeny is still young but the very few older horses begin to show as young horses, like Argento, with John Withaker who jumped in the young horses classes in Aachen this week, Arkida (licensed stallion), Lillibet or Arkan (Licensed stallion).

Of course, the progeny of his sons are still young but I think they show a lot of promises.

just realized how old was that post. I will let my comments their just to show my apreciation of the "Argentinus dynasti*

thank you, broughton_sporthorses!

do post some pictures!!!
