When or how did the name for this part of a horse’s body change? Which term is correct? Which term do y’all use? If someone uses the other term, do you understand what is being discussed?

I’ve seen, and participated in, HUGE internet arguments over this It’s coronary band or coronet, but never coronet band.
They are called coronary arteries because they “encircle” the heart. A coronet is a crown.
google corrects ‘coronet’ to ‘coronet band’. Sigh.
Either is acceptable.

This is exactly what I learned, granted it was half a century ago. The coronet was the part of the horse’s leg directly above the hoof, below the fetlock. The part that “crowns” the hoof. While the coronary band was the lighter band that circles the top part of the hoof. I have never heard the term “coronet band” until this thread.
