About to order new saddle (yay!) and wondering on what side I should have the d-rings installed for a ladies sandwich case? Riding astride. Never got to choose, and I know there must be a “wrong” and a “right” side.
Off side.
I had rings put on off and near side so that I can put wire cutters on my near side. Not correct but they have been needed so many times.
If you are ordering a saddle, I would have them put on both sides. That way you can put sandwich case on the off side, and if you ever need to carry wire cutters or couples, those go on the near side. And have extra dee’s put in front if you ever need those. Much easier to do in the making process than add-ons later.
Have D rings placed on both sides. Ladies sandwich case goes on the right side. Then, you can attach something else to the left side. In hot weather I have a flask/water bottle. Otherwise I carry a pair of wire cutters. What brand saddle are you ordering? Some saddle makers are unfamiliar with the correct placement of D rings.
