I don’t normally use the crossties unless I am going out of visual range for more than a few seconds. My horse understands that she must remain on the mats. She also understands that she is allowed to self groom if desired.
I popped into the tack room to put tack away after riding and came out to see her self grooming her haunches. All good. I’ll just snap a picture because isn’t it great that she still can do this at nearly 17. “No. You have enough pictures of me doing my yoga. I’m going to stop. You’re kind of creepy.” And so, she straightened up, brushing her nose against the wall as she did so. And this was the result.
“I don’t need no stinkin’ opposable thumbs. I can crosstie myself!”
