Cost of Boarding/Training in Belgium/Germany/Netherlands

Hi All,

I am looking at spending about 3-4 mos in Europe June-Sep time frame. I am interested in leasing a jumper schoolmaster (read: need not be super fancy, just good to learn on starting .8 and maybe getting back to jumping 1m) and boarding/training. I am looking for quality instruction. Doesn’t need to be world class but not exactly a backyard barn either. Can anyone give me an idea of what costs are running in Europe for something like this? Anyone with real-world experience would be great to hear from.

TIA!

Board will likely vary a lot depending where you are relative to major cities, etc, like in the US. For reference, the stable I was at about 45 mins north of Amsterdam’s prices (as of last autumn) were €245 per week (~€980/mo) for full training board and €125 per week (~€500/mo) for full care board with no training.

It isn’t an incredibly fancy place but it is very nice, the care is very good, and the training is great. I’d be happy to share more information about my experience there (and a couple of other places) via PM if you’d like.

Last rate sheet I got was 650 euro a month for training board and approx 150 euro per show. This was if I purchased the horse from him and kept it there. Almost everything is significantly cheaper except prepurchases from my experience. This was someone who shows in the young horse FEI classes.

this is insane, what a difference

I agree on prices listed above for training board, but the concept of leasing doesn’t seem to be as established as in the States, at least in Germany.
