Cost of Building a Barn

We have 5 12X12, 2 10X16 and 6 12X16, the 12X16 are wonderful not sure the extra 2’ would make much of a difference. The 10X16 stalls are very comfortable too and feel much larger than the 12X12.

Thank you for the information on how the different sizes work.

I’m in NC and am in the process of having just a simple 3 stall shedrow built with an overhand & tack room, which is far simpler than you have planned. It’s an MDBarnmaster barn, so just a little more expensive than a pole barn (but we felt it was the best investment for us)…my contract has us just under $30K, but we’re going to have to move the barn site, which is going to add probably another $5K for additional site work. It’s much more than I thought it would cost when we first started the “oh, why don’t we build a barn”. We could have saved money by having just the shell built and doing the stalls, but aside from money, time is something we’re short on!

It is almost always cheaper to buy existing than building new. The barn you are describing would cost a minimum of $80,000 in your area.

We recently built a 4 stall barn, tack room, feed room, no wash rack, shed/overhang on each side of the barn, not fancy by some standards but I did opt for nicer things, cost was $63,000+. The wash rack was cut as was a bathroom due to cost overruns. If you are wanting 8-10 stalls I’m guessing you can just about double that cost, so you are looking at close to $100,000, provided you are paying someone else to do everything. Don’t forget to factor permit costs, electric, water, plumbing, site prep, mats, feeders, light fixtures, the list goes on, those are all in addition to the actual barn.
