I am going to a horse next month. They are having a costume class and I need ideas. My horse is a chestnut 16.2 h gelding. Thanks in advance
I’ve got my costume all planned out for my girl. Her show name is “Just a Kiss” and I’m doing queen of hearts (one of the “sexy” short costumes like this Since I can wear over black breeches and ride). Then I’m going to paint hearts all over her.
One of my friends was talking about decorating her gelding as a football player for UVA complete with paper mache helmet, and wearing her old cheerleader costume…
Mario & Luigi!
Chestnut roasting on an open fire!
Chestnuts make excellent Giraffes. Use white tempura paint to make the markings. Wrap tail and put black yarn at the end. You should wear khaki, have a pair of binoculars around your neck, and wear a pith helmet. I did this and we were a hit!!!
What’s your horse’s name? I like to do spinoffs of names for costumes! I once leased a horse named “Brio” so I made his showname “Brio de Janero” (instead of Rio de Janero) and we dressed up like cliché vacation tourists! Complete with a flowered button down shirt, fanny pack, and sunscreen on my nose. Brio wore a hula skirt, those huge goofy sunglasses, and the lays flower necklaces :)…it’s a little more Hawaiian then Rio but I was 12 and it was hilarious
Search Devon Pony Hunt Teams on youtube - there are some great ideas to choose from

That is too adorable! poor pony
I always wanted to do Clifford the big red dog (horse?) and Emily if I had a big red horse. I had a small red mare, but honestly she would either be a bovine or a princess, depending. Or a bovine princess. That’s perfectly plausible.
Since the horse flies are sooo terrible right now…Put wings on your girl and you go as a can of Raid!
not sure if link works, but it has some VERY detailed costumes
