COTH Hive mind needed on stretching tall boots in the calf....

Hi all…I searched the forums on this topic and found some really good info but some of it is old and may not be applicable any more…Long story short…I think we stole a pair of Sergio Grasso field boots today and were in the process of stretching them using der dau boot stretch spray. I got the left boot zipped over the left calf but then went all bull in a China shop and broke/damaged the zipper when I tried to zip the right boot a little more. Hmph! My granddaughter was gutted! We then went to a shoe repair shop that does the work on premises. The lady said she would try to fix by replacing the zipper pull for 25 bucks but if that didn’t work she would replace the whole zipper for 45. My question is…if either repair works we still need to get that right boot stretched in order to let the zipper get up over the calf and I need to know the safest way to keep working to get that to happen. I am freaking out about the idea of soaking the boot with water but admit that it makes sense to me. I see that people have stuck a hose down the boot and then walked around till the boot dried but I am not sure if they did this trick on a boot that didn’t fully zip. The boot spray did seem to work so maybe that is what I should continue to do. I also saw that the boot spray is just IPA. I have access to that but should I mix it 1:1 with water? And finally…since the shoe repair person works on-site should I just ask her to stretch it? TIA for your help!! BTW…I also looked up Pisaro and Sons but it looks like they closed up one shop in 2017 and their website seems not to be working now… Thanks again!

I didn’t actually steal the boots! I just got them for a very reasonable price! Did I offend with the hive mind? I didn’t mean to be mean…misguided attempt at humor. You guys don’t know me…my sense if humor does lean toward smart alecky side…Hope to hear from some of you…

I had my local tack shop wet stretch my boots for me. They do some leather repair, so are able and willing to do the stretching. Worked super well!

I had a local boot/ shoe repair add in a stretch panel about 2 inches wide on each side and it looks good. I only paid 35.00 to have them done I have though previously soaked the min the stock water tank and put them on for a day did it twice I think it helped a little but not enough to count for the blister or breaking them in. I always keep a pair of the boot stretchers in them when not in use.

Stretch panel or gusset. Have seen addition elastic on the sides of the zipper.
